Note: These are not the only regions with 'pacific' in their names. There are also regions known as simply North Pacific, South Pacific, etc.; the Northeast Pacific, the Southsouthwest Pacific; or even The Lemurian Pacific. None of these, however, have any of the characteristics that make the five regions above different from all other regions.
