The Dominion of Paradigia is a small, environmentally stunning nation, renowned for its strong anti-business politics. Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 16 million are ruled with an iron fist by the socialist government, which grants its people the freedom to do whatever they like so long as it doesn't involve getting richer than anybody else or challenging the government.
It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of the Environment, Law & Order, and Social Equality. The average income tax rate is 86%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising fourteen-year-old boys selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.
Military spending is on the increase, TV shows must meet strict ethnicity quotas, the government is reigning in public spending, and cars are banned. Crime is relatively low, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Paradigia's national animal is the grizzly bear, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the trey.
