History

Early History

The Holy Empire of Pascoag began soon after the fall of Germany in 2005. A small piece of land along the French boarder. Soon the first king was put in place, Andrew Cromwell the first. He lead the young nation to be very prospurous, soon buying the northern part of France as well as Luxemburg, with the capital being Strasbourg. Soon the devout Catholic King, joined the Holy League which the nation remained part of until the kings death of an aneurysm. A blood vessel had ruptured in his brain causing a quick and painless death. His son, Archduke Andrew Cromwell, was then crowned king, but his reign got off to a rough start due to trouble from the south.

The Plague (Red Death)

The Red Death, which originated in Africa and spread up the Nile River, didn't effect Pascoag that much. The Red Death was a mutation of the Bubonic plague that caused people to swell up, and, sometimes, to literaly burst in a shower of infected blood. The only major impact caused by the plague was the destruction of the former capital, Strasbourg. The plague hit the city hard, and forced the King and his ministers to flee to the backup capital, Paris. Strasbourg was doomed however, as King Andrew ordered the city to be carpet bombed with naplam. A few other cities were struck with the death toll finally reaching 15,725. Finally Egyria discovered a cure for the plague, and distributed it throughout the world.

The Split From The Catholic Church

When the Red Death ended King Andrew II announced that Pascoag was splitting from the Catholic Church, and leaving the Holy League. Although he did not state the Red Death as the cause of the split, he hinted at it in his speach. This caused tensions between Pascoag and the Catholic nations of Europe.

The Catholic Insurgency

Soon after King Andrew II turned away from the Holy Catholic Church, a Methodist church in Dieppe was the sight of a horrible terrorist attack. Inside a briefcase that was carried into the church, had been four pounds of C4. The C4 itself would have done a fair bit of damage but hundreds of stainless steel ball bearings had been pressed into the block of explosive. The blast occurred around 12:00 p.m. and at least 132 died and 48 were wounded. Soon after the bombing Dieppe Police Capt. Louis Strasser was been put in charge of all of the police forces in Pascoag, and Anti-Terrorist forces from Free Britain are assisting Strasser and his forces. Soon the terrorists, calling themselves the "Army of St. Peter", struck again blowing up two main bridges in Caen. Then "The First Baptist Church of Paris" was attack killing all 85 members. It was soon after this that a major break in the case happened, one of the leaders of the Army of St. Peter,Raphale Martineaux, was identified as the man behind the bombings in Dieppe and Cean by British SAS forces. They turned over to Commander Strasser who has ordered the arrest of Raphale. As the order was being sent construction on the "First Baptist Church" was halted by a RPG attack destroying the whole site. The a police department was bombed destroying the whole block. During the Saxe-Coburgian War of Succession the terrorist attacks became less frequent. Then the time came to flee, as much as they didn't want to. Grand Inquisitor Cardinal Heinrich von Turich and his lieutenets; Michael, Raphel, and Gabriel, and their followers in the Army of St. Peter faced the firing squads as the police and anti-terrorist forces were closing in on them. They had one place to go where they could stay in Pascoag and not be arrested. That was Pascoag's claim on the southern tip of Norway. There is where the Catholic population lived since the breaking away from the Geinisian Church. Through the aid of the black market, von Turich and the "Army" were able to slip pass security and catch a passenger ship to Northern Pascoag. When the ship arrived in port the terrorist were welcomed with open arms by the Catholic populance. von Turich was then elected the leader of Northern Pascoag(now refered to as Catholic Nothern Pascoag), and proclaimed the land an independent nation outside the control of King Andrew while still planning on taking back the whole nation for the Mother Church.

The War of Saxe-Coburgian Succession

Pascoag's involvement in the Saxe-Coburgian War of Succession was minimum to say the least, but the country played a major part in the out come. Pascoag was brought into the conflict when Saxe-Coburgian ships sank a fleet of battleships that had recently been sold to Morracon by TheNeoRomanEmpire. This brought The Pointers Pact nations into the fold. Free Britain and Morracon invaded northern Saxe-Coburg along with Laeplaen and NeoRome. Pascoag had to travel through the Amish Children to reach Rosenwald, their front in the war. Along the way the Pascoag Expeditionary Force, led by Col. Dieter Godfrey, ran into the rear of a column of New Harumfian Mechanized marines, some 60,000 men strong near the viliage of Möckmühl. The Pascoag artilery fired upon the marines as soon as they were discovered, but the Harumfian force quickly retaliated. Col. Dieter Godfrey was killed in the retaliation as well as 10,086 of the PEF, and a bloody stalemate set in. Talk of muntiny was rampent through the Pascoag lines when a new CO General by the name of Jean-Marie Bonaparte came from Pascoag. He quickly rased the morale of the soldiers with his optimism, and he led the charge against the Harumfian position. When the charge occured the PEF was again attacking the rear of the New Harumf forces. With the battle won, the PEF quickly made its way into Rosenwald capturing city after city. Finally the Pascoag military reach Vienna, where forces from Free Britain were ready to engage the battle for the final city in Rosenwald. The city soon fell and the war came to an end. When the war ended The Dominion of Laeplaen and Prussia held a Peace Summit in Stockholm so that the allies could determine the fate of the defeated Saxe-Coburg. There it was decided that Saxe-Coburg would be divided between the allied nations.
