The Federation of Pasquotankk is a rather small nation located in the flat coastal plains and shores of North Carolina and Virginia. It was formed when a group of counties in eastern North Carolina and the Hampton Roads area of Southeastern Virginia (including its namesake, Pasquotank County) decided to secede from the Union in 2025.

There were many reasons why individual counties chose to secede from the United States, but the main reasons were over political freedoms and the two major parties not allowing minor parties such as the Greens and the Libertarians have no say in politics.

Pasquotankk is a pleasant nation, and has committed itself as being a nation that promotes economic and political freedoms that the Founding Fathers of the United States desired for this country.

The nation consists of 30 counties that have similar powers as a federal state does in countries such as Germany or the United States. Pasquotankk also has one independent city that consists of the old cities of Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, Newport News and Suffolk. The independent city, named Chesapeake City, is considered federal territory and is administered by the capital, and the former Pasquotank County which is territory similar to that of the District of Columbia.

Elizabeth City and Pasquotank County were chosen as the site of the new capital of this nation because of its central location and small, diverse population (around 53% Black and 42% White at this time) of just around 80,000. Despite larger cities such as Wilmington, Greenville, Fayetteville and even Norfolk in its borders, the founders and revolutionaries saw this as a politically moderate area to form a capital.

The nation's motto, and it's accompanying song "Raise Up" by Petey Pablo, are tribute to the freedom that Carolinans and Virgnians should have free from Raleigh, Richmond or Washington, D.C.

The structure of the government in this nation is now an "Inoffensive Centrist Democracy", but as the heat of revolution and any uprising are quelled, this is more than likely to change in a more free-market liberal direction.

Multi-party representative democracy is going to be encouraged. As well as other reforms such a low flat tax where everyone pays the same percentage of income, freedom from a welfare state except for those who are severely disabled and do not have any capacity to work and a committment to strong defense.

Pasquotankk did secede legally under the constituion of the United States, but is still being invaded by small numbers of U.S. forces. The nations of Switzerland, Russia and Japan are surprisingly giving individual support of finances, weaponry and troops to the fledgling republic. The EU (now a single sovreign superstate) is supporting the US and its efforts to quell the secession. The UK is offically neutral, but is making deals with both sides on the issue.
