The People's Republic of the Pacific or PRP is the government of The Pacific. It was established on 1 September 2004 to continue the August Revolution started by Francos Spain and the New Pacific Order.

Government of the PRP

The Pacific has a rich and vibrant government that is responsible for the large amount of security that the Region experiences. The previous government, the New Pacific Order, survived four major attacks and several subversion attempts, and the constant warfare and siege mentality dictated an authoritarian regime. Since the signing of several non-aggression pacts and joining the Union of Sovereigns, the NPO transformed into the People's Republic, and promised to institute democratic reforms and create a vibrant community.

The Palace of the People

The Palace is the gathering place for the citizens and government officials to discuss the governance of the region. All laws are posted in the palace, and frank and open discussion is encouraged. The Palace is the the heart of the Pacific Government, as it is here that the people's voices are heard.

The Delegate

The delegate is appointed by the senate, and technically, is a senator himself. The delegate is the vanguard of the revolution, and is the embodiment of the PRP. It is the duty of the delegate to uphold the Judicial code and to execute the laws set forth by the senate and assembly of governors. The current delegate is Unlimited.

The Senate

The senate is appointed by the current members of the senate, and they are chosen on merit and loyalty to the Pacific. Each senator is a department head (much like a cabinet) and together, the senate is responsible for security and foreign policy.

Senator of Internal Affairs Warrior Thorin: Will be in charge of the Provinces and UN affairs. Holds elections and appoints the minister of culture. Regulates forum activities, is captain of the hot tub swim team, and pool boy.

Senator of Justice Pierconim: Will keep tabs all court records and heads the justice department of the Pacific. Has the ability to appoint judges and public defenders.

Senator of Intelligence Mammothistan: Will conduct espionage, work with our allies' intelligence agencies, and gather intelligence on subversive organizations.

Senator of Diplomacy Black Adder: Will automatically be given a seat on any treaty we sign, recognizes the sovereignty of embassies, and charges Pacific ambassadors with their creed.

Senator of Media Affairs Sir Paul: Has a seat on the board of directors of the Pacific Press and heads up the Tabloid Tribune. Official spokesperson for the Pacific.

The Assembly of Governors

The AoG is the domestic governing body of the PRP and is elected by the citizenry. Each governor represents and is elected by their home province (divided by letter). Governor responsibilities include appointing all provincial officers, raising and maintaining a militia, and drafting legislation. They are elected every three months.

The Provincial Governments

The running and structure of each province is up to the duly elected governor, but there are some positions that are mandated by the senate. All other duties and positions are up to the governor to create and implement.

Governor: Elected every three months by the citizenry of the province, the governor represents his people at the AoG and serves his constituents needs. Each governor is responsible for roughly 1000 nations, and appoints and creates the government that will serve them.

Vice-Governor: Takes over the governor's duties during absence and helps run the province.

District Attorney: Prosecutes all judicial code violators in the province.

The Praetorian Guard: While not governor appointed, these men and women are responsible for the incredible amount of security that exists in the region. They achieve this rank by successfully prosecuting violators of the judicial code. Their ranks are Praetorians (25 convictions), the Centurions (100 convictions), and the Prefects (250 convictions).

The Provinces

non-letter - C: Croyance Holding great honor as the first official province of the Pacific, this region is administered by a governor and his council. The council, made up of the four district governors and three secretaries keeps the needs of the people at the forefront.

D-G: Francos Spain Memorial Province Second province of the Pacific, named after the greatest Pacific delegate. We are administered by our Governor and Vice-Governor. The second province of the Pacific is home to the most loyal and steadfast nations in the entire Pacific.

H-L: Honorem et Libertas Third province in the Pacific, administered by our Governor and their Cabinet of Barons. This province harkens back to days of honor and nobility when the people were served by a central figure and honorable representatives that spoke for the people.

M-P: Pax Pacifica Fourth province of the Pacific. The home to both the Senator of Intelligence and the Senator of Justice, and more women per capita than any other Province. Pax is home to the most paranoid, loyal and law abiding citizens in the region, and the region's largest Micro-brew.

Q-S: Quotidie Maiestas Fifth province in the Pacific and the pursue a bicameral legislature. With a name meaning "often mighty" in literal terms, this group of people aspires to great things together with notable members like Sir Paul of news service fame and Governor Sedarva.

T-Z: Tantus Pacificus Sixth and largest province of the Pacific, organized into 7 Districts administrated independently by individual District Governors. Tantus Pacificus is home to our August UN Delegate, Unlimited. Hail!

Pacific Life

The Pacific Forumsare where the Republic exists, and the vibrant culture of the Pacific citizens shines through their text as they live by the motto of The Pacific, "Peace, Strength, Prosperity."

Ministry of Culture

Governor Sarda is the Minister of Culture, and is responsible for roleplaying and special events. The ministry maintains the people's puppets, Francos Navarre, Francos Aragon, and Francos Grenada. Here, the citizens vote on the issues to see what government-type the region would have if it were a NationStates nation. The ministry also holds RP sporting events, such as baseball, F1 racing, and hockey. The Pacific gallery of art and the Pacific chronicles (the history of the region) are kept in the ministry. There are also tentative plans for opening a university.

Pacific News Network

PNN has evolved from tabloids on the old New Pacific Order Forums to an inter-regional news service, broadcasting in the North Pacific, the West Pacific, and occasionally in The Meritocracy. PNN has two main media outlets: The Pacific Press and the Tabloid Tribune. The Pacific Press is the legitimate news service of the Pacific, reporting on various inter-regional and intra-regional events. The Tabloid Tribune, on the other hand, is a whimsical farce of a paper, reporting satire in half-truths with a comic twist.

The General Forum

The camaraderie that the citizenry feel emulates from this forum, as in and out-of-character chat and life-long friendships are forged here. Some of the perennial favorite forums are Thorin's Hot tub and the word association game.

Pacific Justice

The Judicial code is the law of the land in the Pacific, and upholding it is the delegate and sentate's top priority

The Judicial Code

Title 1: Basic Rights

Every citizen of the Pacific is entitled to several basic rights when accused of a crime. They are entitled to a fair and speedy trial. They are entitled to legal representation. They are entitled to due process as set forth in the judicial code. They are entitled to notification of their crimes, their accusers, and their Title 1 rights.

Title 2: Due Process

When accusing a nation, please inform your District Attorney, as they are the only ones who may bring charges forth charges. Should the accused be convicted, you will be credited with the conviction toward your Praetorian Guard status.

Upon receiving notification of a Penal Code violation, the District Attorney will present all evidence to the civil court. There, the presiding judge will determine if there is enough evidence for a trial. If there is, the offending nation will be given one week to appear in the high court and face his accusers unless it is a Title 3, section 1 violation. If the accused fails to appear, a verdict of guilty shall be rendered. If the accused appears, a trial date will be set, the accused will be assigned a lawyer, and the high judge will decide the verdict.

Title 3: Penal Code

Section 1: Of Crimes against the Sovereignty of the State

If one is accused of a crime in this section, and the presiding judge or a senator determines there is enough evidence for a trial, the accused will be immediately placed in the Rejected Realms Penal Colony unless deemed otherwise by the presiding judge. If found guilty, they are to be banished for no less than three months unless pardoned by the delegate, or should their banishment slot be needed for regional defense. If the accused is found not guilty, they will immediately be un-banned and allowed to reside in the Pacific.
