Pisylvania was officially granted membership of The Imperium of Might in the year 1 PNC, before which time it resided as a series of human and vampire tribes on the East mainland of the Imperium. Having always been regarded as a peaceful nation, the series of interspecio wars, including the Pisylvanian Civil War, were traumatic times for all in Pisylvania, but hopefully all disputes have now been settled. The economic slump that has been hanging over the nation almost since the creation of the independant state has meant that government funds have always been low, but the simple life that is Pisylvania means there is little need for the masses to acumulate such wealth. A succession of Supreme rulers have governed the nation from the founding.

The economic structure of Pisylvania has always been such that total nationalisation has been top priority. With all businesses government owned, taxes have needed to be high so that industry can be subsidised. High taxes have meant a tremendously low GDP per capita, currently about $60, however, many citizens have turned self sufficient, producing most goods needed either on their own, or locally as a village community. The low wealth has also meant that a significantly high percentage of civilians live below the international povery level, in Pisylvania, currently 24%. Few people have the luxury of modern technologies such as internet access, mobile phones, and televisions.

Pisylvanian millitary has always been a controversial topic in The Supreme Assembly. Military spending has been stripped back repeatedly, with the governement struggling to support the growing numbers of young adults drafted into compulsory military service at the age of 18. Due to large numbers of military service draftees, excess people have been given duty in local police forces, hospitals, social care homes and government administation jobs, as well as in logistics and other branches of the Pisylvanian military.
