History
Quaarn was founded by Jackie, one of the sons of Numio. Jackie left the most beautiful beach on a catamaran with his wife and children to find there own space. They settled on an island close by and built a Tiki bar. As other people happened along and visited the tiki bar a small settlement grew up. After a brief run-in with pirates it was decided to form a local community government for self protection. Thus Quaarn came into being, first as a small village, then as more people moved in a larger city. The capital city of Konichiwa was founded at the exact center of the island as the repository of government and the Great Library of Recipes. Jackie stayed on to run his bar leaving the running of the government to those so inclined.
National Sport
The national sport on Quaarn is Coconut hurling. This hearkens back to when Quaarn natives used coconuts as weapons hurling them at invaders from the safety of the palm forest. Newcomers to Quaarn usually mistake Hurling centers for Bowling alleys. Lanes are set up with divider panels to keep your coconut from bouncing off the pins and interfering with a neighbors score. Imitation coconuts are hurled at a group of 5 pins painted to resemble Pirates, and Neighboring island natives. The competition has two classifications, with and without usinng a sling. Points are awarded on a combination of accuracy and distance. Double points are awarded on the moving targets. Radar is utilized to track the speed of the flying coconut and force meters are placed on all targets. No points are awarded in the sling category for non-lethal force.
