Several attempts have been made to repeal the Sexual Freedom resolution. The focus of this article is on those two attempts that did not succeed. The first repeal to reach the UN floor, in August 2006, was sponsored by Kivisto, though it had been authored by Karmicaria. The second repeal, sponsored by Karmicaria, reached the UN floor a few months later in late October 2006. In both cases, replacement proposals had been drafted and proponents of the repeals pointed to the replacements in order to sway nations unwilling to repeal the original resolution without a viable replacement, but the repeals still failed. The second repeal attempt did manage to receive approximately an additional 1,000 votes that the previous attempt did not receive. In April 2007, the third repeal attempt, sponsored by David6, actually passed by a supermajority. By that time, Karmicaria's Sexual Privacy Act, intended to reaffirm the declaration of sexual privacy rights of the original while giving governments latitude to investigate special circumstances surrounding sexual activity, had already passed the General Assembly.

The second Repeal "Sexual Freedom" was the second resolution sponsored by Karmicaria to reach the UN floor.  Karmicaria announced its interest in pursuing a replacement to the Sexual Freedom resolution during the debates on its Outlaw Necrophilia resolution, and had already begun a draft replacement prior to this repeal's achieving quorum.
