As a student at Alud State University, Rihards Krauklis took over a struggling, left-leaning student literary magazine and reshaped it into popular, must-read campus magazine. Krauklis' success as a student publisher and editor attracted the attention of Liberty House Publishing. After graduation, Krauklis accepted a position as a junior editor.

Krauklis quickly rose through the ranks at Liberty House, making the transition from editing to marketing and sales in 1992. After the company was acquired by Confederated Enterprises - CE - in 1993, Krauklis became Project Development Manager for the re-christened Liberty House Multimedia.

Under Krauklis' leadership, Liberty House Multimedia moved aggressively into film, television and radio. This attracted the attention of CE President and CEO John Hayes and his protégé Thomas Caine. In 1996, Hayes made Krauklis Vice President of Development at Liberty House. Krauklis became President of Liberty House in 2001 and, under the sponsorship of CE board member Caine, CEO in 2002.

When Caine launched a surprise presidential campaign in 2004, Krauklis was a key supporter and organiser for his campaign. After Caine won the election over a number of candidates, including President Alderson, he named Krauklis the head of his transition team and later his chief of staff.

Krauklis, who like Caine is unmarried, has been rumoured to be a member of the Knootian Order of the Invisible Hand.
