The Grand Imperium of Risban is a massive, powerful nation with a frighteningly powerful economy and superb military. A regime that blends both Empire and Liberty, the Grand Imperium has undergone major transformations over the last several years and arisen as an influential power on the world stage.
History
The Grand Imperium of Risban has a very large and intensive history. Apart from many internal events, Risban is a major player on the international scene and placed all over the history books.
Modern History
In the year 1997, Julius Ilia Graffia ascended to the Imperial throne of Risban and started a campaign for dominance over the Umbram Consortium region. With Risban rising to unmatched power, the nations of Tanzanasty, Tomnaboley, Camos, Hantul, Pelamor, Vexus, and Wandersleben quickly fell before the Risbani Empire. Graffia, growing more corrupt with power, turned his sights on the internal affairs of Risban and sought to disband the Imperial Senate and the General Assembly in 2001. This was met with resistance by the aristocracy and the common people, both of which backed Count R. Antares Scorpius, a young, up-and-coming commander in the Imperial Navy, in a coup against Graffia. Graffia and the Ilian Loyalist Party were removed from power, fleeing Risban on ships. The former emperor and his supporters died when the refugee ships were fired upon by the forces of the Fiefdom of Nehm, who felt that their territorial waters were being invaded.
Scorpius rose to become the youngest emperor in Risban's history, expanding greater civil liberties to the people of Risban and further strengthening the economy. Under his rule, Risban has jumped from former isolationism to becoming one of the foremost players on the world stage. It did suffer internal problems, however, with two insurrections led by a rogue general and his supporters.
Foreign Affairs of Risban
Risban had long prided itself as an isolationist nation on a continental island, always maintaing a powerful navy to ward off invasions. However, with Emperor Scorpius and his Imperial High Minister for Foreign Affairs, Alexander Perkins, Risban has spent the past decade pushing an increasingly active international agenda.
Risban began an international embassy exchange shortly after the appointment of Perkins as Foreign Minister. Multiple nations, eager to earn the trade and potential military support of Risban, quickly opened relations with the Imperium-- the Republics of Upper Xen, Siap, and Green Sun; the Allied States of Alexario; the Empires of Golencia, Shazbotdom, and Alexias; the Fiefdom of Nemh and Protectorate of Gryson; and others. Strong alliances were soon forged with Upper Xen, Green Sun, Golencia, Willink, Ratheia, Truitt, Grays Hill, and Pacitalia. Risban found itself in a peculiar position when several large conflicts started, being allied or friendly with people on both sides. Thus, the Grand Imperium remained neutral in most world conflicts, using its powerful navy as a deterrent from being attacked and instead acting as a mediator between the two sides. This earned Risban the respect of many, and the hatred of few.
The first military action Risban took on another world power came after terrorists supported by the Nation of Muru launched a biological attacked in the Risban City commercial district and the Copmol Airport. Before Imperial authorities could realize that they were attacked, the biological weapon had spread via plane to Upper Xen, Praetonia, Green Sun, the Macabees, Culex, and Willink. After discovering what nation was behind the attacks, condemnations from world powers fell upon Muru and the Risbanian military mobilized. Supported by a coalition of fourteen other nations, Risban blockaded and invaded Muru, removing the government in power. With the threat removed, Risban occupied "Retributed Island" off the coast of Muru and forever banned the nation for ever possessing a military again.
Shortly after destroying Muru, a Risbanian naval convoy was hit by a rogue nation called "Call to Power," which Risban had recently placed trade sanctions on due to their harassing important Risbanian allies. The Grand Imperium, with the support of alliances such as the Committee of Vigilance and the United Defence Fronteir Organization, invaded Call to Power and subjugated it after two months of fighting. Its government was removed from power and its military disabled; Risban passed control of the affairs of "Call to Power" over to the International Allied Defence Federation.
Following these two wars, Risban enterred a state of non-interventionism again, restating its doctrine of neutrality in conflicts. When the War of Golden Succession broke out in Greater Dienstad, though, Risban was forced to play a part. Initially ignoring requests to get involved in the war--having allies on both sides--Risban mobilized its forces after Decession Island, a large island off the coast of the Golden Throne of the Macabees, was attacked by Havenite forces. Grudgingly, the Grand Imperium entered the war on the side of the Imperials with the Golden Throne and Guffingford, against the Claimants led by Praetonia and Stevid. The Risban Imperial Navy, one of the strongest in Greater Dienstad, struck back at SafeHaven in the latter stages of the war. When the war came to a close, Risban was forced to give up Decession Island, but otherwise remained unaffected.
Following the War of Golden Succession, non-intervention sentiments within the Imperial Parliament grew and the Grand Imperium of Risban's military began becoming increasingly less-involved in foreign affairs.
Withdrawing from most international organizations, the Grand Imperium of Risban is generally only active within the United Nations, where its voice (being the former delegate of a large region) carries influence. Risban is a former member of the Committee of Vigilance, the New World Order, the United Defence Fronteir, the Empire of One, the Council of International Imperial Powers, the Imperial Confederacy, the Right-Wing Alliance, the Aegean Trading Conglomerate, the Consortium of Shadows, the Alliance of Greater Imperial Powers, the International Allied Defense Federation, and the Coalition of the Just.
The Grand Imperium maintains warm relations with Culex, Golencia, Green Sun, Gryson, Nemh, Ratheia, Upper Xen, Willink, Alexias, Camewot, Exetonia, the Macabees, Mikosolf Corporation, Praetonia, Roach-Busters, the Borman Empire, Pacitalia, Siap, Whittier, and Witzgall.
