Ironically, the operation, launched under the guise of "saving [[Irondin]] from communism" had the exact opposite effect: once the plot was uncovered, the popularity of the leftist parties soared, and the communists soon achieved a majority in Irondin's Reichstag. Operation: Mongoose will surely go down in history as one of the greatest fiascoes of all time. Lee and Moua were both tried, found guilty, fired, and sent into exile.
