The Confederacy of Scarlet States is a Federation of thirteen Democratic Socialist Oblasts (Provinces) located in the north eastern part of the Alliance of Socialist States region. A nation which has suffered a turbulent past during it's recent history, The Confederacy of Scarlet States is a federation of relatively autonomous oblasts, some of which have a history of confederacy that goes back 270 years. The civil rights of the population are extensive, the economy of the country is reasonably strong, and a strong anti-Capitalist sentiment within the population resounds in government policy. Left-wing parties are the only political parties which are legal within the Federal States.

History

Years of Birth (2000-1BC)

It is unknown how the people of the Thirteen Kingdoms came to the land that would be united under the Confederation. It has been postulated by the nation's top historians that the Southern Oblast people were a race that arrived from the sea, as preserved wrecks of small, primitive boats dot the coastline. This ancient population seemed to centre around the Bolavine estuary and Panavya river, where farming land, fresh water and fish stock where plentiful, and so the first Southern Tribes of the forest created villages across the banks of the life-giving rivers. The Northern Oblast people seemed to have consisted of a nomadic tribe which migrated from across the mountainous border, and occupied the Slovanian and Russenian river banks. The cold north had fewer forests and arable land, and so the nomadic tribes lived on fish and a plentiful Seal population. The discovery of copper, and later iron, deposits in both the north and south led to a cultural revolution. The Southern tribes eventually developed into fuedal societies as the Southern forests were split amongst five warrior-noble families. These later became the Royal families of the Southern kingdoms. The Northern Tribes developed into war bands, which competed constantly for the scarce resources available, and were ruled under eight War Chiefs. By the year 200 BC, The Southern Kings and Northern Warlords began to compete for power and resources between the Thirteen Kingdoms.

Years of Confederation (0-10AC)

The original confederation that came to be formalized in 0 AC (After Confederation) was between the Southern oblasts of Estia, Panavya and Espuarus. This was in retaliation towards the invading Empire of Amitaho, which was lead by the Emperor Chan Amitaho, who had united the Northern Kingdoms in order to plunder the rich resources of the South. The Founding Nations, as the original confederation was named, fought a defensive campaign against the Northern invaders for a decade. After the Battle of Estiar, where the final Imperial army assault was decimated by the combined forces of the Founded Nations, these three oblasts remained independant from the Empire in 10 AC.

Years of Liberation (100-150AC)

In 100 AC, the Founding Nations expanded militarily, in order to free Southern nations under Imperial rule. By 152 AC, after several reasonably successful campaigns against the Imperial Army, the Founding Nations had been joined by the Southern oblasts of Ethona, Manchevus, Itana and Danchevus. The Confederate-Imperial Wars resulted in the official formation of the Confederation of Independant Oblasts, binded by the Treaty of June between the Empire of Amitaho and the Founding Nations, with complete independance from the Empire.

Years of Civil Disunion (50-100AC)
