Selinia is the smallest of the ten states which make up the Danaan High Kingdom of the Resurgent Dream by a very large margin. With a population of a mere four million citizens and a diameter of a mere forty miles, Selinia represents an extremely small portion of Danaan territory and population. This is reflected in its one member representation in Parliament. Nonetheless, Selinia is considered a very important state for several reasons.

Firstly, Selinia is the only Danaan state located on Luna or anywhere else off the surface of Terra. The location and lower-gravity conditions of Selinia make it a prime sight for the construction of Danaan space vehicles and this is in fact the leading Selinian industry. The orbit of Luna around Terra gives military forces stationed on Selinia a tactical advantage, albeit one fluctuating in degree and nature.

Secondly, Selinia is the only Danaan state to have a human executive. Prince Aaron also heads the first princely line to be formed since High Queen Agwene's Edict of Racial Equality. Officially, Agwene maintains that Prince Aaron was designated based on the same standards of lineage and merit by which the executives of other states had been selected in ancient days. However, many believe Agwene went out of her way to select a human so as to demonstrate her commitment to equality. Whether this is so or not, Aaron has proven quite capable of handling his executive duties and has thus far worked well with the state legislature and judiciary.

Thirdly, Selinia is the only Danaan state where House Beaumayn shows great strength. The history between Beaumayn and Gwydion is long and sorted. While they were great friends in ancient days, Beaumayn have long been the subject of prejudice and even persecution in Gwydion lands. While High Queen Agwene had shown a willingness to treat members of House Beaumayn as she would any other man or woman in identical circumstances, the appointment of Prince Aaron is the first sign that she is serious about reversing the fates of the Beaumayn.

Finally, Selinia is a strong symbol of religious diversity. Selinia is one of four states where Danaanism, the national official religion, is not also the state official religion. In Selinia, the official religion is Judaism and the official language is French.
