The Foundation

Traditionally life on Higar IV was founded by three brothers, Sentalinus, Conois, and Higarius. It is said that the brothers seeded their kind on Higar in order to save them from a terrible war. The people of Higar at the time of the seeding were lost and confused without the leadership of the brothers. Tribes roamed aimlessly, until Higarius retured home and taught the Higar how to build and reason. He showed them civilization and the followed. Higarius soon left to help fight with his two other brothers and the Higar were once more, alone.

The Rise of the Three Cultures

The second part in the foundation stage of the Higar, was the rise of three distinctive cultures, Sevian, Aclarian, and Sebekken.

Rise of the Sevian Culture

In the northern part of the Istrer Continent on the Sevia Island Chain a major, dominant, islandic culture began to appear. The island kingdom of Sunna was the first organized civilization that was not Higarius influenced. Sunna was a small island with a large population. The island lacked rich soil and farming required great organization. Until 200 Post Higarius, fishing was the major source of food for the kingdom. Around 207 PH, the smaller Sevinnah Tribe discovered a natural fertilizer from the abundant sea plants off the coasts of the Sevia Islands. With richer soil and a steady food supply, farming became easier and more time could be devoted to thought.

Sevia was the first organized and successful civilization on Higar, but remained isolated from the other civilizations for another 150 years.

Rise of the Aclaric-Sebek Culture

The peoples of the later Aclarian and Sebekkan empires grew from simmiler roots on the southern mainland of the Istrer Continent. Aclaric-Sebek culture was initiated by the return of Higarius, but due to unfertile lands on the Ickarian Plain, their peoples remained in the Blaturn Mountains that separated the northern part of the Istrer from its southern part.

At 203 PH climatic changes occured which led to the abundance of sea plant life and land plant life. Underground springs and aquafers breached in the Ickarian Plain and many glaciers moved across the Plain at an amazing pace. The glaciers soon reached the volcanic craters of the Elan Pointe. The glaciers were the major factor in the new ecosystem's creation. The glaciers brought seed and grinded rock, which together with increased water, made the Ickarian Plain more hospitablie.

After a few decades, people moved into the plain, farmed, built, and grew into many different states. At around 297 PH the Aclaric-Sebek population exceed 20 million. However, int wasn't until 351 PH when two twin sisters fought for their father's respect. Their feud grew as the gathered armies and collected smaller domains under their own. The war between the sisters ended when their father said he had equal respect for them. Since that time their two empires grew radically different.

Aclaric-Sebek Wars

War of Collection (351-359)

King Halb's Challenge

King Halb, ruler of the city Tarros, had twin daughters, Aclar and Sebeki. For many years the twins were indifferent about each other, until their father's health began to fail. In bed on night, he called his daughters fourth and stated that the city must be under only one ruler. He declared that to receive his blessing as queen, they must show a great ability to rule. From this challenge the sisters turned into bitter enemies. The city they wanted to rule, became split aswell. It was the first civil war on Higar.

Assimilation of the Other

At that time, foreigner were treated with a live-let-live policy. Tradin was non-existant in southern Ickaria and small bands of nomads were the only ones to engage in combat. However, when the sisters began their feud, they quickly created military forces, and from that- Tactics.Early battles were short, unorganized, and relatively bloodless. As the war progressed, the battles and the armies became better and bloodier. As the art of warfare became more complex, so did the art of city defense. Early defenses consisted of massive stepped pyramids and trenches.

As news of Aclar's small but feared warbands, Bastriovi, and Sebeki's massive hordes of Planterin, spread to cities outside their domains, they could do little but fear the coming horrors. The sisters' forces spread and conquered new lands with little resistance. However, in 354 PH an army of surviving cities in Southern Ikaria and on the Elan Pointe, massed on the farmland around the Aclarian city of Necittet. Unfortunatly for the attackers, Aclar's forces had spies in their ranks. The short lived Ickarian Commonwealth, faced the full forces of Aclar's Bastriovi. On a foggy day in 354 PH, the forces of the Ickarian Commonwealth met Aclar and her men. The battle was said to have lasted only 30 minutes as it did not take long for Aclar to flank and slaughter her enemies. After the Battle of Necittet, Aclar ordered the complete conquest of South Ickarian Nations. After cities on the Elan Point fell, many kingdoms join one of the growing empires. After Sebeki and Aclar had created their empires through brutal conquest, their father called them forth once more. He told them that they were both fit for rule, and they should stop their feud. He divided his city and gave equal haves to his daughters, in a hope for peace. An uneasy pease remain for the rest of the sisters' lives.

End of the Halbian Era (373)

On a winter morning of 373 PH, Sebeki died after two weeks of sickness. Aclar was so depressed at her twin's death, that at Sebeki's funeral, she built another wooden alter next to Sebeki's on the farmland. She lit herself and her dead sister, and she died quietly. However, the spot on which they built their alters, was a rich mound of fertilizer from Sevia, and when the fire touched it, the mound exploded. Several chief alchemists attended the service and noticed this event. They began testing soil types and eventually found that lighting the fertilizer caused a large explosion. Not long after the discovery of this explosive, was it used in the Sebekkan and Aclarian militaries. However as the two nations hoarded the fertillizer, crops did poorly. The effect of the discover eventually led to an increase in trade with the Sevians. This trade boom greatly increased Sevian and South Ickarian political development.

The Sevians had known about the properties of the natural fertilizer and explosive, yet never shared it with their waring neighbors. When a boom in trade with Sebekkans and Aclarians occured, the Sevians became worried that they had descovered its explosive properties. Their worries were confirmed when a Aclarian naval vessal came into their port, it was powered not by muscle or wind, but by a liquified version of the fertilizer. With this discovery, the Sevian Island Confederation began building a grand army.

Technological Advancements

After the discovery of "Aclarian Fire", Aclarian scientists discovered that mixing the chemical into a liquid form produced easier transportation. Not long after, Aclarian engineers created a simple internal combustion engine. Within 23 years, Aclaric-Sebek scientists and engineers had moved from muscle power to fire power. Aircraft came about another 20 years after the liquification of the Sevian explosive. It seemed as though the brightest of the Higar minds exist in that time. Biological, chemical, physical, and powered advances were made each day. From the discovery to the harness of electricity took 5 years. 15 years later, the first computer was constructed.

However, the negative effects of these quick advancements was a lack of equally fast social advancements. The three great empires remain feudel. The almost instant move from massed blade weilding power to advanced aerocraft was confusing to the average person. From farming, to programming farming machine, only the adaptive of minds kept up. The first recorded space flight was conducted by the Sevian Air Dominance Corps in the year 421 PH. That spaceflight was a major stepping stone into the Higar Dark Ages.

Makaarian Dark Age (469PH)

At around 440PH all the nations had basic mining, civil, and military colonies in the Higar System, along with intersystem Warships. Several treaties were created to protect shipping in Higar. However, in 469 the Makaar family, lead by Jöne Makaar, seized control of the Sebekkan Empire. Makaar was an aggressive but intelligent man, who reformed the Sebekkan military to a well oiled killing machine. After his reformation, he, inseeing his might, declared war on the Aclarian Coalition. The Sevian Federal Commonwealth soon declared war on the Sebekkan Empire for violation of the treaties, and formed a loose military alliance with the Aclarian Coalition.

First System War (471-488PH)

Early in the year 471, Makaar's forces moved
