Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 586 million are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, corrupt, pro-business individuals concentrates mainly on Defence, although Law & Order and Commerce are on the agenda. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Information Technology, Uranium Mining, and Pizza Delivery industries.

Wealthy parents-to-be can select their perfect baby, the people are famous throughout the region for their bleached-white teeth, homeless people are periodically found dead upon altars to assorted deities, and the government extracts trade concessions from poor nations in exchange for humanitarian aid. Crime is a problem. SlidingAlbion's national animal is the human being, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the PoundSliding.
