The People's Republic of Southeastern Greenland is Communistic Democracy in the region of Scandinavia. Its population is mostly made up of Danish speaking Scandinavians but there is a sizable native Inuit minority.

Politics

Southeastern Greenland lacks lots of government in matters of making decisions, for all the decisions are decided by worker's councils (who elect representatives to the regional council, and so on). The government has no leader but does have a monthly nationwide council board that is elected by smaller councils, who have some decision making power over the matter they are assigned to. There are no restricitions on political parties and they do not have to be registered. The five major political parties in Southeastern Greenland are:

The People's Party (Council Communist)-A council communist party that supports the current system and that has many anarchistic and communistic views.

The Democracy Party (Parliamentary Democrats)-The main opposition party in Southeastern Greenland that wants to replace the current system with capitalism and parliamentary democracy.

The Workers Party (Maoist)-A maoist party that wants more authority in Southeastern Greenland's socialist system.

The Right Party (Moderate Right)-Supports parliamentary democracy and extreme capitalism and conservative principles.

The Greenlander's National Party (Nationalist)-A far-right party that advocates everything from some form of parliamentary democracy to fascism. They are conservative about matters such as homosexuals and are generally percieved to be racist. Most of the GNP leaders have left the country because their frequent attempts have been fruitless.

Councils

The worker's councils make up most of the Southeastern Greenland political system, and they are structured in the following way:

National (1)

    |

Regional (2)

    |

Semi-Regional (40)

    |

Local (2,000)

    |

Town (10,000)

Councils can make decisions based upon their power in their area, for example, a Town Council can make decisions that affect their town directly, while the National Council can make national decisions. Council members have the option of making an affiliation to a political party, and membership to town councils is open to all.

Foreign Affairs

Southeastern Greenland is very active in foreign affairs and is known to be a compassionate nation worldwide. They offer asylum and immigration to all individuals, and much money is spent on foreign aid for less fortunate nations.

Economy

Capitalism is completely gone in Southeastern Greenland so regulation on business is unecessary. Nothing can be sold, for everything is free, and wages are thus eliminated. Factories and other establishments are controlled democratically by councils. The currency, the green, is almost never used in the country and is only used to make exchanges with other nations that are not communist, and to provide foreign aid.

Environment

Southeastern Greenland has one of the cleanest and healthiest environments in the region, and the national animal the Polar Bear is abundant across the country. Zoos are illegal, for the people prefer to go out and see the environment in one of the nation's many parks, which are well taken care of.

Infrastructure

Since there is basically no currency in the nation, the infrastructure is made up of solely people contributing to the nation, and since everything is free, there is no need of funding. There is an efficient public transportation system in the nation which is democratically controlled by workers.

Healthcare

Healthcare is provided to everybody at no cost.

Education

Every aspect of education is provided freely to everyone, from preschools to univerities.

Social Welfare

Southeastern Greenland provides an extensive system of social welfare, that includes everything from childcare to psychology.

Culture

The culture of Southeastern Greenland is principally Scandinavian but there is a great deal of Inuit influence. Politcally charged music is very popular, along with an appreciation of the arts and books. Television is completely provided by the public, and has no corporate influence, thus getting rid of advertisements. Computers are a large part of the culture too, which is fueled heavily by a non-profit piracy tolerance policy. Open-source software is one of the latest crazes in Southeastern Greenland computer culture.

Religion

People are free to worship as they want in Southeastern Greenland as long as it does not involve violence. A recent ban on evangelical christianity was just lifted. Religious organizations are banned from having material wealth. Most of the people in the country are Secular Atheists, although the religions of Buddhism and Islam are also popular.

Inuit

The Inuit are treated as every Southeastern Greenland, and in certain instances it is law that Inuit people have to be included to avoid discrimination and segregation. The Inuit have a vibrant native culture and speak Danish and native tongues.

Other Matters

Gay marriage is legal in Southeastern Greenland, along with: burning the flag, speaking out against the nation, and graffiti. Southeastern Greenland not only allows but also encourages people being honest and open about their sexuality, no matter what it may be. Many National Council members have been open Homosexuals and Bisexuals. The Flag of Southeastern Greenland is a combination of its name (hence the green), and the communism the country follows (the Hammer and Sickle).

Military

The military of Southeastern Greenland is virtually non-existent in peacetime, and if war is declared local militias are summoned to deal with the crisis.

Law and Order

There is virtually no police force in Southeastern Greenland, instead the nation relies on voluntary order, a policy which has worked since the nation's founding.
