The Spectrum Football Association (SFA) was created to manage the rules of Spectrum football, determine how it is played and to manage tournaments, such as The Spectrum Cup.

Establishment

The SFA was established shortly before The Spectrum Cup 2007 when it was decided that the sport needed an overseer group. Prior to this time, it was not seen as important to have such a governing body - as the prior Spectrum Cup had consisted of only 8 teams. When 20 teams played in the 2007 competition, it was determined the sport required a governing body. It seems such a suggestion was well made, attempts were made to modify the rules of the game during the 2007 tournament, but the SFA rejected any such changes.

Members

The Spectrum Football Association has 6 members. These are Calumnius, Sherylannia, Oldham Road, Nintenduu 64, Enthalpy Change and Sabrateur.

Rules

Basic Rules

The game consists of three rounds during a normal match. In each round the respective teams must determine whether they have scored using the three rolled up balls method. The probability is 2/3 chance of not scoring (miss) and 1/3 chance of scoring (goal). The team deemed to be at home picks first, then the team away. If neither team is drawn as home or away, a coin may be flipped to determine who may go first. After three rounds the nation with the highest score wins and the other team loses, if both teams have the same score, a draw is declared - unless the match is a knock-out game.

Knock Out Rules

If the game is a knock-out game, additional rounds are taken if the match is a draw after three rounds. The fourth round is extra time, while any additional rounds are penalties - the rules are the same.

Other Rules

  • The referee must be a neutral team, preferably one with SFA membership.
  • At any time, a team or the referee may request new balls.
  • The ball may not be re-rolled.
  • Any team which fails to field a team for a fixture will forfeit the game.

Points

In any league based system, a team gains 3 points for a victory, 1 point for a draw and no points for a loss. Teams with more points rank ahead of teams with less points. When teams are on equal points, goal difference may be used to determine positions. If the issue is still not resolved, total goals scored will be used.
