The Grand Duchy of Spurlonia is a small island nation located deep in the ocean. It has been located there since the beginnings of its history.
The founding family, the Spurlocks, named the island for themselves. They ruled only for a few short years before abdicating the throne to the Mac Giolla Eainaig Clan. Under the leadership of the Mac Giolla Eainaigs, the country has been a haven for behaviors shunned by larger, more prosperous, and better nations. The primary leisure activity is either Belly Dancing, or Watching Belly Dancing. The national sport is, ironically enough for an island paradise, Hockey. Spurlonia also boasts the largest per capita number of Clothing Optional Beaches of any small island nation (all of them.)
Spurlonia's troubled economy is fueled mostly by individuals bribing the government to participate in private enterprise, and various other activities considered crimes by larger, more prosperous, and better nations. Spurlonia also provides a political haven for those hated and hunted by other governments (for a price) such as Mad Scientists, the Paparazzi, Pool Sharks, Meatatarians, and Live News Television Crews.
Spurlonia also has a thriving Bar Industry, fueled by the fact that there's not much to do there on a daily basis.
