The Republic of Stadt Luxemburg (German: Republik Stadt Luxemburg, French: République Ville de Luxembourg), commonly known as Stadt Luxemburg (German: Stadt Luxemburg, French: Ville de Luxembourg) is a small Parlamentary Democracy located in Europa. The nation is divided into twelve cantons in two regions (the German-speaking North and West, and the French-speaking South). Representatives are elected both to Federal and Cantonial parlaments, and a Prime Minister is chosen by the National Parlament from its own members. Each canton is led by a Head of Parlament, who is elected directly by the people from the ranks of the Cantonial Parlament. Any issue can be brought to vote in a national referendum if a petition can be produced with 30,000 signatures. In this way, Stadt Luxembourg is very close to a direct democracy. The citizens of Stadt Luxemburg enjoy a high standard of living and many civil rights, and industries profit from a thriving economy and advantagous tax rates. The center-left government is very popular, and Prime Minister Jens Engelbrecht is currently surving his second term.
