The Republic of Sumiut is a conservative nation, which boasts a strong economy and promotes big buisness capitalism. It was created December 20th, 2004 and founded the Megadoomer Union of Nations.

History

The Republic of Sumiut has a long, unprecise, debated history, over a period of 2560-2600 years.

Origin

There are several theories by different historians of where Sumiutians originated.

The Charwin Theory

Famous historian Donald Charwin came up with a theory (and selfishly named it after himself, I might add) that is accepted by about 30% of Sumiutians today. Charwin reasons that the imprecise dates and history of the Sumiutians meant that, while other tribes still existed at the same time, the now very intelligent Sumiutians came from apes with a relatively high IQ. Over time, these apes began to advance and slowly turn into the Sumiutians today. The first Sumiutians, therefore, would have originated in the Tranchy Forest, where the oldest ape fossils were uncovered.

Critics of this idea argue that 2600 years is not enough time for the apes to evolve into intelligent life. Charwin debated this saying that the apes were already of a high IQ when they migrated to the Tranchy Forest. He did, however, have no proof of this.

The Divide Theory

Anthropologist Wayne Erbert created the most accepted theory (About 42% of Sumiutians accept this idea). He found that similar pottery and designs existed between two barbarian camps (found just east of modern day Cactica), Barnibut and Sumiut. Older pottery shows the name Barnisume, which some say reaffirms the theory, others say it hurts it.

Erbert said, "The relation of older pottery from a barbarian encampment named Barnisume and the evolvement in taking the first part and last part of the name for the two new encampments in a split cannot be denied."

It is said that "barni" means blood while "sume" means light in anchient text.

The River Theory

Geologist Don Ritter formulated an odd theory that many Sumiutians (around 26%) believe. He believed that the Sumiutians descended from nomads, who wandered for a long time before finding a river. They had never seen such a river, so they began to worship it.

However, their priest soon got corrupted, as the trust in him as the messenger of the river began to give him power. Half of them revolted by killing the priest and quickly traveling west. It is said that the river was the Nohan River.

Ritter found interesting artifacts bearing the Sumiutian name around the river, each depicting the river, the priest, the killing of the priest, and them setting off for the west.

Sub-Theory

Some believe that the split was actually the split of the barbaric Barnisume tribe, mentioned in the Divide Theory.

Other Theories

Other theories often combine the three major ones, and make up the final 2% of believers.
