The nation of Tailed Wind Demons is a democratic nation populated of several species of metahumans, located in the Isles of the Lonely Mist, a rather ephermal parallel dimension. "Tailed Wind Demons" is not a native title of this nation, "Tailed Wind Demons" is rather what humans have named them, and they have since adopted.
The nation is MultiTech and maintains effective sovereignty over its own sub-universe. However, as its sub-universe contains many 'holes' or 'portals', large segments of its native population have been isolated from the mother country, such as the future-tech denizens of Stormsphere.
The Tailed Wind Demons do not particularly care for humans, having fought them and been oppressed by them in ancient times. As a result, the Wind Demons (who are typically quite accepting of diverse sentient beings), often are prejudiced against humans. This fact, combined with the nation's unusual geography, has led to a general policy of isolationism. At least for now.
Population
The principle species populating this nation are a race of tailed humanoids called the People of the Wind, or just "Wind Demons". This term is also used to describe denizens of this country of different species, as the People of the Wind consider non-"People of the Wind" to essentially be "adopted" People of the Wind. Members of the other species seem content with this confusing syntactic arangement. "True" Wind Demons make up roughly 75 % of the population.
The second most common species is called the Rezh-Pezh-Vizh, a species of giant ungulate-like creatures that resemble shaggy six limbed yaks with elephant trunks and opposable footclaws. Despite their strange appearance, the Rezh are highly intelligent and rational thinkers, if culturally somewhat isolated from the rest of the population. This isolation is mainly the result of the Rezh's complex social ettiquette which sometimes makes them feel uncomfortable in the presence of non-Rezh (who do not understand the ettiquette), differences in mental architecture between the Rezh and the True Wind Demons, and the fact that the Rezh smell kind of funny. Despite this, the Rezh are highly respected by the rest of the nation, and gravitate toward scientific and mathematical disciplines. The Rezh-Pezh-Vizh make up maybe 15 % of the total population.
The makeup of the remaining 10 % of the population is as of yet a mystery to Western Science.
