The History of the Republic
The Imperial Republic was born from the former United States in the early 21st Century during an era of neo-conservatism in the nation. The superpower’s unbeatable military toppled nation after nation starting with the conquest of Iraq in 2004 by then President George W. Bush with the last nation to be conquered being Great Britain. After the fall of Britain the Imperial Republic (for the name had long since changed) ruled the world.
During this time of conquest from 2004 to 2128 the public’s fears about outside forces that threatened the United States a series of legislation was passed beginning with the Patriot Act in 2007. In fact by the creation of the Imperial Republic in 2043 the nation was already quite authoritarian.
The IR now represents the pinnacle of human achievement by unifying the entire world and making great leaps in science and technology. Already, the Moon and Mars are very successful colonies and scientists say that faster than light travel is possible within 25 years.
The current Imperial Republic president is James Thompson of Virginia. He has already set into motion reforms that will eventually ban all elections in the IR and only time will tell how he will lead the nation.
