Overview
The Nomadic Peoples of The black dessert is a very large, safe nation, renowned for its complete absence of social welfare. Its compassionate, cynical population of 80 million are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.
The medium-sized, corrupt government devotes most of its attentions to Law & Order, with areas such as Social Welfare and Religion & Spirituality receiving almost no funds by comparison. The average income tax rate is 21%, but much higher for the wealthy. A healthy private sector is led by the Door-to-door Insurance Sales industry, followed by Gambling and Information Technology.
Door-to-door salesmen are frequently beaten up by 'vigilantes', high-income earners pay a 100% tax rate, major cities shut down as their local sports team takes to the field every day, and citizens are regularly arrested in queues for 'loitering'. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. The black dessert's national animal is the captured psycho, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the slightly dark bun.
Much speculation has been delivered recently as to the current mental Faculties of the current Head of State, Leader Budge. The Nations main News programme "It's all True!" has been criticised for showing the Leader in an unjust light, although consisitent low scores on the Daily Quiz and the fact that anyone who opposes Him either verbally or physically will meet with an "unfortunate accident" has done little to quash this image.
General unrest in the population could certainly mean that a full scale coup could soon be underway.
The Nomadic Peoples of The Black Dessert has healthy relations with its nearest neighbour, The Armed Republic of Fargess, with both their governments sharing similar views and strategies, along with unsual but productive trades happening at regular intervals.
