Introduction

The Technocratic Republic of the Digital Network is a large and powerful nation in the Simtropolis region with six UN Endorsements and is considered to have an Eminence Grise influence over the Simtropolis Region, taking part in Regional Discussion Diplomacy at the | Simtropolis Civil Headquarters. The Technocratic Republic was established and became independent on 29th August 2005.

Foreign Policy and Trade

The Country is famous for its technology, providing internet and IT services to the Simtropolis Region and to the rest of the NationStates world. Many technology factories have been established producing high-quality and high-tech goods, and because of this The Digital Network became the largest exporter of goods, not only the Digital Network exports goods but imports goods as well. The Digital Network mostly trades with the following nations, in order of percentage of most imports: Batheia Thalassa, 25%, Kedalfax, 25%, Rhodesia Newydd, 15%, Sim City 5000, 10% and Other Nations, 25%.

The Minister of the Department of Industry and Trade (DIT) and the Minister for the Department for Simtropolis and External Relations (DSER) believe the free and fair trade is the solution to international and political stability and increases the chance of world peace. Both departments have united and collaborated to set up a missionary team setting up democracies and economies in countries where their political and economic systems have collapsed; these usually include dictatorships or countries in anarchy.

International Reputation

The Digital Network has been praised internationally towards its attitude to foreign policy as well as its policies towards Health and Education, but the country has also been controversial as well, by under-funding the Department of Environment and for over taxing the public. The Digital Network has also been controversial worldwide because of excessive gambling. A huge percentage of Gambling websites is hosted on Digital Network Servers and can be accessed where Gambling is banned, but to solve this problem, The Digital Network also offers Internet Censorship Software to block off illegal websites, which work very effectively.

The Digital Network is also very important for all nations in NationStates World in terms of technology, as 33% of websites is hosted here, as the country offers ultra-secure and affordable hosting for websites. Elected President Luke Bevan commented “Storing Webpage’s from other countries is very important for Foreign Policy, as other countries trust us with our security and protection of information, hopefully hosting these websites will develop a global community of blogs, Chatrooms and business and personal websites. This will develop people’s attitudes towards our country, and this also means we are the World in One Land, as we handle international communication and web traffic”.

Government & Economy

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Education, and Healthcare. The average income tax rate is 50%, and even higher for the wealthy. A substantial private sector is dominated by the Automobile Manufacturing industry.

The Digital Network is also home to the largest Internet and Media Company in the Simtropolis Region, Infoengine Corporation and as well as the largest telecommunications company in the Simtropolis Region, Com.uni.glo Corporation.

All Companies in Kedalfax and the rest of the Simtropolis region can trade inside the Digital Network without any restrictions.

Also any company can enter and trade inside the country unless it is good for the country, the Government believes that free trade equals excellent relations with other regions and countries, and therefore does not add any extra taxes to foreign companies. But all companies (Both Foreign and Domestic) must follow DNMACC (Digital Network Mergers, Acquisitions and Competitor Commission) Guidelines, rules and regulations.

Civil Rights, Political Rights, Geography and Nature

It is illegal to make racist remarks in public, the government is attempting to revitalize a gutted private sector, a well-funded social safety net protects the unfortunate, and extreme political groups are outlawed. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. The Digital Network's national animal is the computer mouse, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the gigabyte.
