Originally, the rubber inhabitants of the Isle of Duckia lived in happily on the coast of southern California. They lived in great prosperity and peace with almost unequaled social equality. Their society was centered around their two greatest cities, the neighboring sister cities of Desmond and Victorlia. These two cities were the cultural, political, and industrial centers of their society and were the treasured icons of the rubber duck civilization. The economy was excellent and the political system worked fairly to all parties. Times were good for rubber ducks and their futures looked bright.

One day, the skies around Desmond and Victorlia darkened. Not by the occasional coastal marine layer of California, but by the massive flocks of seagulls that were approaching. For years the California Seagulls had been jealous of the ducks' prosperity and bliss, and after massing an army, launched an attack to take the sister cities. However, the ducks knew these attacks would come at some point and were prepared for a fight.

The first wave of seagulls were high altitude bombers low flying ground assault aircraft. The duck AA batteries opened fire on sight and quickly began shredding the seagulls apart. During the secong wave the batteries were beginning to be worn down, so the United Duck Air Force took to the skies to defend their homeland. The ducks' specially designed aircraft intercepted the seagulls' bombers and escort fighters. Shortly after the air-to-air engagement began did the ducks realize it had all been a diversion tactic to occupy their air support while heavy troop and armor transport landings began on the southern outskirts of the sister cities in the agricultural and outer industrial areas. The United Duck Army had already established defensive positions and began attempts to repel the invaders. As reinforcements were sent to the southern outskirts police forces began evacuating civilians from the outer suburbs and industrial areas into the cities.

By the next day the seagulls had a weak footing in the southern outskirts of the cities and the ducks had established defensive perameters all around the cities. The UDAF had repeled the bomber waves and now began focusing on close ground support tactics. Most of the outskirts had been evacuated and the fight was beginning to turn into the ducks' favor. But at 1 P.M., the air was filled with the sounds of massive explosions in the cities. In the ocean to the west, the seagulls had positioned several battleships that began firing at strategic locations in the cities. Duck HQs were being bombed by long range weapons and unfortunatley the ducks had never formed a decent coastal defense navy. The tall majestic skyscrappers of the sister cities were exploding in plumes of glass and the royal palace was blown to pieces. The UDAF began assaults on the large warships, but these only slightly lessened the bombardments and took fire off the seagull ground forces. As night began to fall the seagulls surprised the entire army by landing quick shock troop forces on the north and eastern boundaries of the cities. The ducks ordered mass evacuations of everyone into the inner cities and sent out the order that the entire commercial Pelican fleet should be put on stand-by to begin mass evacuations of civilian refugees out of the cities of it came down to it. High duck officials decided to wait till morning before giving the order if it was necesary.

Morning brought the seagulls making strong advances from the North, East, and West with naval bombardments still coming from the west. The ducks were surrounded with the average duck soldier outnumbered 7 to 1. The final straw was when a reconassaince plane spotted two seagull transports advancing toward the cities with short range nuclear missiles strapped to their decks. The order had to be given. The sister cities of Desmond and Victorlia had to be evacuated completely. During the night the duck government recieved a message from the leader of the Blue Sharks saying that, where they had to remain nuetral militarily, all aircraft and prsonel carriers were being dispatched to the area to take refugees and transport them to a safe location. The first to be evacuated was the duck royal family. This helped get the citiens to board the transports and soon airlifts began. The UDAF was given the dual task of holding off the seagull advance, and escorting the pelicans out of hostile territory. The evacuations took 2 long days. As the UDA began withdrawing towards the inner cities, they demolished chief industrial complexes and military building to prevent them from being used by the invading army. Finally, at the end of the fifth day, the ducks' finally lifted the last soldiers out to the refuge given by the sharks. The ducks had fought valiantly, losing only 3,000 soldiers compared to the seagulls 14,000. But no matter how hard they fought, they were still defeated by far overwhelming numbers. The ducks' had lost everything. Their society. Their way of Life. Their home.

Several days after fleeing the sister cities the ducks found a new home. A very large tropical island uninhabited in the Land of Nonsense. The island was dominated by a towering dormant volcano and was perfect for the ducks. It was dubbed the Isle of Duckia, and it was here the ducks began to rebuild their society, and eventually prosper once more.

The first two years on the Isle of Duckia were spent establishing cities and their industrial base, as well as the construction of new homes for all of their citizen refugees. Using the island's abundant resources, help from other nations, and the ducks' own sheer engineering and determination, the sister cities of Desmond and Victorlia were rebuilt in the tropical paradise. Victorlia was named the new capital in the upper valley along the shores of Lake Constantine and became the center for all things political. The Parliament building was built on the lake shores and a new royal palace was constructed in resemblance of the original. Desmond was built as the business center on the southern corner of the island around Duckia Harbor. A huge port was created to accomodate the large, newly constructed duckia merchant fleet. Most factories and businesses are located within Desmond's city limits. Other cities sprung up. On the northern slopes, the town of North Shore was founded and on the high eastern slopes the Duckia Airstrip was built and a small town formed around where pelican pilots and airport employees lived.

The ducks also constructed a vast island defense network. Vast arrays of radar, sonar, and seismographic stations have been strategically built all around the island, putting it in a protective bubble that nothing can penetrate. The new United Duck Coast Gaurd routinely patrold the beaches of Duckia in armed patrol boats on the look-out for any unusual activity. After a fantastic, if losing, performance during the Seagull War, the UDAF has perfected its aircraft and are still known for being masters of the skies. Most military complexes are hidden and their locationd held seceret by all so that no incoming enemy can know what to expect from where. One thing is for certain, the ducks will never again lose their homeland to any invading army.
