The Colony of The Marionettes is a nation still in development. It is not clear who its leaders are, it is not clear what its population wants (except for environmental conservation) and it is not clear whether these things will ever be clear; the inhabitants do not seem to care. This could be related to their national motto.

Inhabitants

The native inhabitants of The Marionettes are called Marionettes and not Beans as one might guess from their appearances. Calling a Marionette a Bean is a big offense. The confusion can arise because they are another race of Beans.

Related to species in other nations, Marionettes are very strange creatures as they would be defined as plants, but then walking and having lungs. For their breeding process, they do not rely on bumblebees anymore (like the Beans), but they have developed an artificial fertilization process. By the way, bumblebees are called string dogs in The Marionettes.

History

The history of The Marionettes is closely related to that of The Beans. The origin of The Marionettes lies in the Subconscious Revolution, during which a group of peoples tried to escape from the influence of The Beans. A part of the The Beans' population, mostly of the younger generations, fed up with some of the restrictions imposed upon them, joined the conspiracy and constituted The Colony of The Marionettes, sarcastically referring to the omnipresent way of ruling of The Beans. However, during their search for a new home land, the members of the conspiracy were struck by the malignant Spon Plague. Worn out by their journey, they were no match for the disease. Only some of the revolting Marionettes survived the infection, due to their less fleshy bodies.

Now, decades later, the relations between The Marionettes and The Beans have improved and they share the same region again.

Culture

The Marionettes have drifted away from many of the ideals of their ancestors. Religion is not as important as in The Beans, but their experiences with the Spon Plague during their search for a new region have convinced them of the importance to be in equilibrium with the environment. They are not as strict as Beans in these matters though. The only thing that has been preserved in all its facets is the utter disgust for everything related to weapons.

In all other matters, Marionettes more or less take the middle road, depending on how they feel that day. This makes it very hard to give a satisfying overview of the culture in The Marionettes. Therefor, no more information is given at this place. If you want to know more about the culture of The Marionettes: book a long stay and experience it yourself.

Did you know that...

  • String dogs are considered a delicacy by Marionettes which is in sharp contrast with its position in religion.
  • Marionettes are fond of weird games, but you seldom see a game being played.
  • Marionettes love wintertime, for then their feet are tickling so nice.
