History
The Moiran Islands were formed in a fit of desperation by local mad scientist Michael Stoupa. After all of his plans to recombine the DNA of different creatures to bring to life new advanced generations, he gave up,and threw his equipment into the ocean. A spark of life (aka the generators giving out one last cry for mercy), a few polyps of corral, and a sutable supply of luck (aka I handed God some weighted dice and said 'here, give these a toss; they wont affect the ENTIRE universe, so you can still play with them') and the resulting mass of confused coral grew to form the landmass we see today. The irony of the archipellago consisting of 132 islands caused mad angry scientist Michael Stoupa such a fit of rage that his mind just snapped. He still suffers from amnesia, remembering little of his former life, and retaining only a few traits (furry envy anyone?). He spends his days now as a lone writer. Current president Maurya Elasaiyed found the island, proclaimed them "warm!" and took them as her own.
Geography
The Moiran Islands are 131 distinct islands of corral mass. Each one is slightly different. For example, Paw Isle has sandier beaches due to a slight mutation in the corral polyps; White-tail-tip Island is prefered by the upper class due to its high rising mountain formed by Stoupa, The Mad Angry, in his final fits of rage, as he tore one island up, dumped it on annother proclaiming "The irony is dead! And I LIVE ON!! MUAUHAHHAHA"
Economy
While the underwater basket weaving market continues to provide the highest quality baskets ever produced underwater, most of the nation's economy comes from retail. Specifically the selling, marketing, and research that goes into getting more underwater-woven baskets to consumers.
