The Democratic States of The Siberian Republic (DSSR) is a massive, safe nation, renowned for its complete absence of social welfare. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 1.297 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often. The Siberian Republic's national animal is the Siberian eagle owl, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the ruble.
History
The history of the Siberian Republic is an infamous one. For many centuries, it was under Bouleardian rule. During those ages (known now to many as the Desolate Times), the land was a desolate wasteland and the nation was known as Bouleardan. Civil wars were many and the use of toxic chemicals polluted the water supply.
During the last year of the Desolate Times, Vladimir Nikolaevna assasinated Nicholas Bouleard. Three generations later, Alexei Siberiana takes his place as the Tsar of the Siberian Republic. Within two months of his taking office, Tsar Alexei was murdered. As Alexei was the only male heir of Tsar Vladmirir III, his sister, Anastasia Siberiana, took his place as Tsar. To her male companions uncomfortable with having a female ruler, she is known as Alexei, or "'Xei." To all others, she is known as Ana.
Government
It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Commerce, Public Transport, and Healthcare. The average income tax rate is 39%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing industry, followed by Uranium Mining and Woodchip Exports. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare.
