The Stronghold

Founded in September of 2004, The Stronghold is one of the largest non-feeder regions in NS. The Stronghold grew to over 120 members over the next few months, and was quite active until the beginning of last summer. The region declined over that summer to around twenty nations. That changed in October when a major recruitment drive began and the region's population went up to 325. It was the twentieth largest region as of November 2005, with around 320 nations, but since then The Stronghold has declined to under 200 nations. In late December 2005, The Stronghold's regional forums were attacked by one of the Admin. Initially, the perpetrator was thought to be UshiYashaIV, the root admin; however, later investigations found Eternus Rector/Gordonel/Glorious Power to be the forum hacker. He has since been deleted from the forums and banned from the Region. Shortly afterwords, observations on his nations ceased, as he was deemed to no longer be a threat to The Stronghold. On February 27, 2006, The stronghold ratified the Espionage and Combat treaty.

Government:The Stronghold has a primarily democratic government with power split between the executive and legislative branches. The executive branch includes the UN Delegate (the head of state) and the Directors of each Department. The Delegate's Council is also executive, as all directors of the individual departments are there, as well as some of the assistant directors. The legislative branch is the Senate, which includes most everyone in The Stronghold with a UN nation who is active on the forum. Most of The governmental stucture has been developed rather recently, due to the large intake of active nations in October 2005. Following the Attack on The Regional forums by Gordonel, the forums have since been moved to http://www.host.aagu.net/TheStronghold.
