Tyrrius

Tyrrius is a massive, far northern nation overlapping into the arctic circle. The north of the nation is a flat, frozen tundra noted for its rich oil reserves. Further south is the evergreen Forest of Tyrris consisting mainly of hardy Snow Pines native to Tyrrius. The Capital, Tyrris, lies central in the nation, just north of the forest.

Oil

The main industry in Tyrrius is oil drilling. The Northern Tundra is home to a large number of drilling sites owned by several companies - Fuelex, Jackson Drilling Co, and the Millius Corporation, along with a few other smaller outfits. Oil is not only the primary export of Tyrrius, but also the lifeblood of the nation, supporting not only the economy but the population. Due to the harsh cold almost all year, the population of Tyrrius depends heavily on oil for heating residences.

Military

The Tyrrian military consists of a large infantry force specially equipped and trained to deal with operations in the cruel Tyrrian weather. The foot infantry is supported by an extensive Mechanized division and Tank Corps - both with vehicles designed to operate efficiently under treacherous conditions. The Tyrrian navy has taken a back seat compared to the land forces, but is still a capable fighting force, especially in the icy waters around the Tyrrian shores where ice bergs are common. The Tyrrian airforce is a small, token organisation designed for small, local missions rather than offence. The Tyrrian military has developed this way in light of the fact that the nation is not an aggressive one and attempts to remain neutral in all matters. Hence, the military has been adapted to defend the shores of Tyrrius from attack, using the inhospitable weather to their advantage. Defence by the Land forces is supported by a large number of AA batteries scattered around the nations shores to provide some defence against arial attack, making up for the weakness of the airforce.

The [Tyrrian Infantry], and mechanized sections thereof, are divided into two armies of aproximately 1 million troops. Each army is then split into ten Corps, which are in turn split into four with each successive level of command into squads of 24. Each of the Corps have one Mechanized Division and three infantry divisions. The X and XIV Corps of First Army and XXI and XXIII Corps of Second Army each have airborne infantry division. Mechanized divisions are mounted on either TAT-12 APCs, or TAT-A IFVs. (TAT stands for Tyrrian All Terrain, 12 denoting the man capacity. A stands for Assault)

The Armoured Divisions of the Tyrrian Army consist of aproximately 40 000 tanks, primarily SnowTiger MkII Battletanks and LT-10s, but some of the older SnowTiger MkIs and LT-7s are still in active service. (LT stands for Light Tank)

The Navy currently consists of 5 battleships, 19 Destroyers, 28 Assault Cruisers, 7 subarmines and an assortment of transport and light assault boats.

The Airforce has around 1000 aircraft, although many of which are outdated. This number also accounts for the transport planes of the Airborne divisions, of which there are aproximately 300.
