The Ulju rocks are located just off the south-western coast of Wueliw island, Ariddia, a short distance from the city of Wavecrest. They are one of the Ariddian Isles' most striking and famous natural features, and a significant tourist attraction. The site is listed on the World Heritage Sites & Treasures List.

The rocks are under the care of the Indigenous Lilwie people. They are seen by the Lilwie as a major chapter of history inscribed in the landscape: a story about the rocks legitimates Lilwie custodianship over the area.

The Lilwie take tourists to see the rocks from the coast, and tell them about their significance, and the history of the Indigenous peoples along the coast.

Images of the Ulju rocks are often used to symbolise Ariddia abroad, along with images of Progress Tower, Harmonia, and (to a far lesser degree) the National Library of Ariddia.

As a natural monument to Indigenous history, it is sometimes compared with the Ieoa burial site.
