Urk

Probably the most famous footballer in Giant Zucchini history, and most rightful member of the World Cup Hall of Fame. The striker is rumoured to have scored more than 100 international goals for Giant Zucchini and more than 1500 goals for Marauding FC, Giant Zucchini's most successful club before the collapse.

Known for his versatility, Urk had brilliant ball control and a devastating shot. Such was his skill that he could beat the keeper from way out, produce a breathtaking curler around the keeper, or simply dribble into the box and lob the ball over the keeper. However, his glorious career was occasionally plagued with injury problems.

After Giant Zucchini was rebuilt after the collapse, a statue of Urk was erected outside the Prowler Stadium, home to Marauding FC. A plaque, believed to be originally on the statue, was discovered by Prime Minister Googe when he first rediscovered Giant Zucchini, and excavations around the Prowler Stadium ruins are still ongoing for further remains of the statue.

During the period between the collapse and rebuilding of Giant Zucchini, officials in Druida claimed that they had given Urk, along with fellow Zucchini Thunk, refuge in their nation. The pair played for their temporarily adopted nation, and Druida went on to qualify for the World Cup in their first attempt. This lead to many a heated debate there over whether or not it was actually the pair or, as many people believe, two lesser skilled lookalike Zucchinis that the Druidan government had kidnapped during the collapse, dressed up and put into the team. However, there is new reason to believe the Druidan story, as Urk was most recently in the news for appearing under the alias of Vatatzes for Alasdair I Frosticus in the final qualifying game of World Cup 25, nearly causing a major diplomatic incident when his secret identity was discovered at half-time of that match.

Widely believed to be the last surviving member of the sentient zucchini species in NationStates, Urk is suspected to be the mysterious lead sitting behind the couch in Giant Zucchini Broadcasting Corporation's TV series following the Zucchinis in World Cup 26, 'Another Own Goal!'
