Introduction

History

The Grand Democracy of Wondonia, formally called The Holy Empire of Wondonia and The Holy Republic of Wondonia, was noted in early historical context as the small trading island nation of Dagson. In the year 1100 CE, they were conquered by the militaristic Blood-Red Tribes of Soncost. Over the next 800 years, they were considered a state of the Soncost tribes until, after an economic depression in Soncost, the Governor of Dagson, a Sir Lasteric Londston bought the freedom of the island from the mother nation for 2,000,000 Tencos, the currency of Soncost. The people of the island declared Sir Londston their leader, and over the next five years Sir Lonston bought the island of Efenity to the West and Jacobin and Levysalle to the South. The people were fairly prosperous, and named cities after the ruling aristocracy, such as the capital of Landlon, which is a combination of SIr Londson's first and last name. The nation it's self was named Wondonia, which in ancient Efinity meant "sea-soldiers" However in the year 1908, a new king of a now- divided Soncost, Tuck Robinson, took over. He was bitter about his father's selling of the territories, and desperate for new lands in his ever-shrinking empire, and thus invaded the Empire, at this point called Landlon. After initial troubles, the people of the region set up a small army and held off the invasion while Wondonia's diplomats went for help. This aid was found in the nations of Davidina and Jebberia, rivals of Soncost. The Landlon guerillas and Davdina and Jebberian veterans thrashed the Suncost fighters, and the treaty of Landlon was signed in 1911. The treaty stated that any island within 2000 kilometers of the island of Wondonia was thier territory. Also, three other rebelling colonies of Soncost, Loldon, Mentomania, and The Metho-Ottomans were free. Suncost soon broke up into multiple states until none were recognizable from the original organization. Unfortunately, Sir Lonston was killed a year before when the capital had been overtaken, and the nation was left to his son, the reformist Blake Lonston. Over the next nine years, Blake Lonston eliminated corruption, created the official constitution of Wondonia, bought as number of far-off island, and, finally set up free elections. These new election brought about a new leader in 1920, Louis Kenzington, who maintained the title Emperor even though he was more like a powerful president. In 1934, Louis Kenzington's grandson came to power, and dramatically adjusted the constitution, crowning hiimself Emperor, but also declaring a secondary position of President up for grabs, with extreamly similar influence. The Emperor maintain many figurehead, spiritual and economic powers, plus some persidential influence, but the President remained the outright leader. By 1940, Wondonia was caught up in another war. Both Davidina and Jebberia were having trouble in their region of Jumbolic Shirmpii, where a number of empires were attempting to take over the area, specifically those of Chantingmonkistan, Umbrela Isle, and Woga Woga. Wondonia, Mentomania, Loldon, and The Metho-Ottomans moved in, claiming their own colonies in the area as centers of command. The war, however, was short-lived. Due to another invading force, Lechuga Pantalones, and a growing amount of pointless battles that ended in stalemates, the leaders on both sides signed the Pump Trohs Peace Accords on January 5th, 1943. For the next twenty years, Wondonia flourished in a period of peace. The nation was eventually renamed a republic and quickly picked up many liberal reforms. In 1955, Wondonian officials officially moved out of the region of Jumbolic Shripii, alongside many of it's allies. Soon after, Wondonia developed a many new alliances with such nations as The Queendom of MariaKyser, The Republic of Teolands, The Fiefdom of Once Again only twice, and The Armed Republic of Naqvis niceland. Then, in 1974, Wondonia became the lead delegate in it's region as representative of the Prussian Territories to the UN. The nation suffered a minor rebellion in 1980, and also suffer from a major depression from 1990 to 2000. in 2005, a delegation from a southern Prussian region came to request an alliance. The two Prussian territories merged into a stronger, more connected economic and political union, a merge led by The Grand Imperial Conglomerate of Vivalutsk and The Grand Democracy of Wondonia. Together, both regions are developing economically, politically,m and culturaly in now bounds.

Economic Overview

Due to the nations major spending in education (25%), welfare (18%), and healthcare (17%), the citizens of Wondonia happily and often perform commercial actions( ie, buying and selling). However, limited spending in defense and corporate support cause companies to be forced to weather bankruptcy and other problems on their own. Wondonia's overwhelming support of the arts and literature cause the nation to be a major center of book publishing and tourism. Also, it's convenient location and the spread of it's islands make it a center of port trade and shipbuilding. One major island in Wondonia has been designated as the industry states, so that other areas can remain free from smog and urban eyesores. This makes transportation in Wondonia a flourishing industry, even if they receive limited economic support by the government. Although Wondonia is not a great trading power, they can be noted as having a reasonable amount of wealth and economic growth.

The Future of Wondonia

The future of Wondonia's economy is questionable. Can a nation with such a liberal stance have a chance to truly develop economically? The people of Wondonia seem content, and it's unity seems sure to continue into the future. Now that Wondonia is not a lead delegate, it will have to accept a slightly smaller role in the picture of Prussia, but it may still be noted as a powerful force.
