The Dominion of Vittos Ordination is a small, socially progressive nation, renowned for its punitive income tax rates. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 18 million are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.
It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Religion & Spirituality. The average income tax rate is 53%. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Beef-Based Agriculture.
Education and welfare spending are on the rise, Vittos Ordination's children are widely acknowledged as the most foul-mouthed in the region, the mining industry is making inroads into environmentally sensitive areas, and the government is avowedly atheist. Crime is moderate. Vittos Ordination's national animal is the Ant, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Vitto.
