The Walled City of Sanctuary Fortress is the massive capital city of Redmire. It is surrounded by an armored wall and is the main headquarters of the Redmire Combine Forces and The Redmire Biomechanical Evangelion Defense Units Program. The city not only is heavily armored from attack but is also defended by a special branch of the Combine Forces named in Greek as Οι ασπίδες του Θεού. It is also defended by 3 Evangelion Combat Units, the reason for Sanctuary Fortress being so heavily defended is not only because it is where the heart of the government and military is but also because it is the site of the Stargate that connects Redmire with its colonized planet Socratis. Another interesting feature of the city is how important buildings can retract into the armored geo-front and also how some buildings are created not to house people but the massive weapons used by the Eva units
Defense Systems
The cities defense system includes:
- The thick armored wall
- Howitzer Cannons that line the wall
- Infantry Outposts in the inner wall and on the other side of the wall
- Evangelion Combat Units
- Massive Energy Shield to protect from bombardment
Cost and Building
The construction of Sanctuary Fortress took 12 years and cost over 3 billion blood stars. The cost of the city had sever effects on Redmires economy but the nation is slowly and surely recovering. The city is relatively easy to maintain and since the wall is mostly solid steel it requires little maintinence.
