The Republic of Wathorn, or as it was derogatorily called by Corvos and Pizzaiata, the separatists, was a small, newly-created state based on the Wathorn River Delta and originally encompassing the three towns of Heraldsdown, Linford and New Town.

It was created during the Deianiran occupation of Corvos during Operation Rhine, which called for a democratic state to be created in a small part of Corvos whilst the rest of the country was annexed to Deianira.

However, this plan met massive opposition from the Dimwit dictatorship of Corvos and its allies in the PTO. The only part of Operation Rhine implemented was the creation of the Wathorn Republic.

Unfortunately, Deianira had withdrawn from Corvos to deal with its own civil war, leaving the Wathorn Republic to fend for itself - with a healthy supply of Deianiran arms and equipment left behind for them to create the Free Armies of Corvos. The Wathorn Republic then held elections that brought in the only candidate standing - Jonathan Smithley - as President. Only 40% of the potential voter population registered and cast their ballot.

However, the loss of both Heraldsdown and Linford in Operation Reunification forced the Wathorn Republic to relocate to the neighbouring territory of House White, annexing a large swathe of territory. They established themselves in the newly-renamed Corvoston. But despite this vital lifeline, the Free Armies continued to suffer losses, especially with the entry of the Holy Empire of Panvexinia into the war on Corvos' side.

As a result, Commander-in-Chief General Roderick Chaplain of the Free Armies launched an army coup to depose the democratically-elected government, on the context that they had murdered President Smithley. Whilst maintaining the facade of a democratic country, President-General Chaplain rapidly turned the Wathorn Republic into a militarist state. His alliance with secretive Nurcian elements allowed him to obtain 10 missiles armed with the deadly Krytox bacterium. Using three missiles to devastating effect on Panvexinia, he managed to knock them out of the war.

But unbeknownst to the President-General and his Cabinet, Corvos had developed nuclear arms, and was preparing to launch them against the separatists. But Wathorn's Nurcian allies launched a damaging aerial attack upon Heraldsdown and the Corvosian military, prompting a fullscale response from Paulus Dimwit: he immediately launched three nuclear missiles against the separatists, completely destroying their political and military structure.

The Republic of Wathorn subsequently collapsed, and the civil in Corvos was brought to an end.
