History & Information

West Aarat Island had humble beginnings. Late in the last century an under water volcano erupted 30km of the coast of the Israel region. The then active volcano emerged from the sea within weeks of its initial activity. For the next 50 years the volcano continued to build new land and then quickly went silent. What was left was a 8km wide by 12km long island. With ever increasing population and over crowding in the Israel region a group of 5,250 colonists set foot on West Ararat Island claiming it as an independant nation aligned with the countries of Israel. Soon after establishment many more colonists arrived.

The nation's capital, Sinai Cove, is the location of the landing of the first colonists. Biologically the country has no indiginous plants or creatures, although there is now an abundance of Jerusalem Cherry, Date Palms, and exotic grasses growing in the open spaces on the island. The first animal seen on the island was the Western Albatross which is the country's national animal.

The Bet Din is composed of 3 learned individuals. Two of these members are elected by the citizens for a split 6 year term and the third member is appointed by the Monarch. The Bet Din has very little legislative powers. The Torah and Talmud is used as the Supreme Law of the Land. However, where these volumes lack clear direction the Bet Din under the supervision of the Monarch formulate regulation of such things as International Trade, Health Care, and Education.

The Monarch sits as an active observer of the Bet Din and offers commentary of their rulings, he is also the the head of the National Police Force, and the Chief of State.

Communications & Media

West Aarat Island has all the modern conviences of any modern nation. Communications services include, landline, cellular, internet, radio, television, and satellite uplink/downlink. All broadcast stations simulcast in English, French, and Hebrew. Communications services are Government owned, however all but the OORT channels are independently operated.
