The Nation
The Kingdom of West Degnia was a nation founded on the split of the original Nation of Degnia. It had begun as a small collection of tribes, the principle one being the Deginyii, which under their leader Korfus, brought the other tribes under their rule and so founded Deginyia - the land of the Deginyii, later corrupted to Degnia.
The Land split after a period of high enlightenment, awakening the people to the Backward system of Governmnet Degnia operated under, after a successul revolution, the people couldn't decide what to do. West Degnians wanted constitutional reform but to keep the royal family, East Degnians wanted a republic.
Soon the Kingdom split into Two. (East Degnia does not exist on NS) Tensions are rife, and recently 27 forts have been constructed along their borders by the West Degnians, the principle one being Fort Flüschbang, "Just as a precaution" according to the King.
The Language
Although English is the principle language of the Land, some of the higher echelons also speak Pseudo-French. A peculiar dialect, it stems from the time of the "The Great Split". The higher orders did not want East degnians hearing in on them, so they took to speaking French, unfortunately, they did not know an awful lot of French, so it became Peppered with English words and phrases. Undaunted, the Government made it a national Language, and now the mark of a true nobleman or member of the intelligista would be:
"Ah non! Mon Hat est Ruined! Je ne believe pas ça!"
Work in the Region
West Degnia has pretty much been part of The Land Of Kings and Emperors from it's creation. Convinced to join from the start. West Degnia, under the name of "Degnia", is an active Participant in the regional forums, and is known as a bit of a toff.
Degnia has recently been made Foreign Secretary under Citizen Erased's Government.
Within the LKE, Degnia is also: A member of the People's Party, an MP in the House of Commons, a Baron with a seat in the House of Lords, an ambassador and Legionary Commander of the Armies Third Legion- The Miscellaneous Elite.
Degnia continues to try and help contribute to the LKE, and remains a steadfast member, with a distinctive array of "Poirot" avatars.
