The Allied States of West Moonah is a nation formed in October 2007, from the remaining peoples of the former United States of LaivNFang. Few more than 10 million people reside in West Moonah, a figure remarkably less than the 1.5 billion people who once occupied LaivNFang. The geographic regional location of the country is within the Free States of Gaia.

About The Government

West Moonah is politically structured as a presidential-unitary republic, with a unicameral parliamentary system of Government. Members are directly elected by the public to the 142-seat House of Representatives which is located at Government House in Gagebrook City. Presidential terms are scheduled to last in majority, no longer than 4 years and a General Election must be held at least once every 5 years. The incumbent Government spends any difference of time in caretaker mode.

The current Caretaker Government of West Moonah is staffed by members of the Liberal party, after the party leader and former LaivNFang President, Kristian S. Hayes recieved overwhelming public support to lead the new nation. At present, all introduced legislation is voted on by the House and invoked with majority approval only. Following the General Election, the candidate (and the party) with the majority popular vote will have the full authority of the Office of the President to pass legislation in the House.

According to several major media outlets in October, President Hayes has informed his Cabinet that he has ruled out applying for permenant membership to the UN until after the November election, despite opinion polls indicating there is an overwhelming public majority in favour of his interim Government doing so immediately.

Vice-President Buddy Cunnings said on October 20 during a press conference held in his office in Gagebrook City: "It is expected, certainly from our point of view, that regardless of who is elected on November 25, the Government of the day will do the right thing and apply for membership before the end of this year."
