Due to the political division of the nation, however, State Citizens are also residents of the Mainland Political Area (and carry "State Passports"), members of the Special Autonomous Municipalities (and carry "Municipal Resident Passports") or are members of the Huangdao Special Political Area (and carry "Huangdao Resident Passports"). Residents of each area ordinarily have right of abode only in their area, and must petition the area government for permission to stay for over two months a year.

The Allied Free States of the former Xiang Gang is an alliance of the states of the former federation. Although ancient, with a population of over 7 billion, it was insular for much of its existence.

The Federal Republic of Xiang Gang, before its dissolution into its states, was a member of the Meritocratic Accords Senate until it lost its seat when it was dissolved. It is a fouding member of the Meritocratic Community.
