Sheik religion is, as noted above, a modern form of paganism with emphais on enviromentalism and spartan living (i.e. not many material goods) called Siliki. It has a code of practise for its followers to use in there day-to-day lives called the Ring of Faith which promotes meditation, prayer, free living and speech and non-voilence. This often conflicts with the nature of the Sheik people as they are hot-headed and extremely fanatic about thier beliefs. Although not all of the Ring is positive, it also councels mis-trust of money, strangers, other religions and downright commdenation of enviromentally polluting objects and eating animals.

General Discription

A fiercely patrotic country living mostly in and around the lush forests that surround the land. Because of this they are an isolated country mistrusting of strangers and new things. Despite this they are still very technogically advanced in things that are neccesary for their survival. A massive majority of the small population are natives as immagration is frowned upon, the shreik religion is a modern form of paganism with an emphasis on enviromentalism and spartan living called Siliki.

Business

Not liking interaction with strangers, the import/export business is virtually non-existent except for the bare essentials. Corparations were generally mistrusted until recently when captalism was banned following a soda strike (the major product of the old private sector).

The Advisor of Commerce is a general scapegoat for these economic problems and a hated figure of captalism. As such his identitity is protected after the former Advisor was killed by an angry mob when he proclaimed "Sure the forests are important but just think, if we cut down these trees we can get at the uranium which will lead to nuclear power and exporting to other countries for nuclear weapons. This will...." (he was struck by a rock at this moment and rendered unconcious). They are always called Advisor X. Commerce to protect their families and stop them being tracked down, they also never make public appearences instead having representives making speeches and announcements for them. They are usually put in bulletproof cases first or are heavily guarded by Security officers. Trade advisors are usually of a foriegn nationality as enviromentalism and a distrust of commerce are encouraged early in the schooling system, as such its hard to find a sutible candidate in the Sheik majority.

Military

Because of the odd state the economy is viewed in there is very little professional army to speak of as they can't afford one as well as any airforce or navy, though there are plans to change this. Instead there are jobs which also double as soldiers should the need arrive. The army works as follows:

Criminals (can volunteer to serve instead of sentence): Loading, carrying, assistants, minor criminals can be Civilian-Privates, etc.

Civilian Volunteers: Can choose from above.

Wildlife Rangers/ Foresters/ Trackers: Scouts, reconnaissance, messengers.

Huntsmen /Security Officers/ People with firearms knowledge: Regular Army.

Master Huntsmen/ Professianal Army/ Tribesmen: Guerrillas, Special Forces.

Mechanics, Doctors, etc: Fill their own army percific roles.

This ranking system was created by the current electorate for defense/employment, Deputy J. Delphamen. The Army ranks are ordered as follows:

Religion

While the majority of the Sheik people are Siliki, there are some smatterings of buddhists, Gians and other such religions. the demographs are as follows:

  • 92% Siliki
  • 4% Buddhist
  • 3% Gian
  • 1% Other
  • >1% Atheist

The Buddhists and Gians while not gennerally trusted are usually accepted after a few generations of showing good qualities, whereas Other religions have to have lived in Sheikland for a very long time before people will be friendly towards them and atheists are generally ignored and muttered about behind thier back. This is mostly because they are refugees and fleeing criminals from other countries.

There are hundreds of deities in Siliki, gods, goddesses, spirits, sprites and other such things. They each represent a different object, one for trees, one for the mind, one for fate, one for cows, one for sports and so on. The major deities are however for each element and each element commands a different deity of another thing (god of fire commands the spirit of warmth, goddess of cooking, etc). They are as follows:

  1. God of Fire, Xymalash (appears often as a dark orange bull with bright red eyes and snorting fire with a ring of molten metal in his nose)
  2. Goddess of Water, Phlowen (appears as a blue-green dolphin with a crown of shells, followed by a shoal of brighly coloured fish)
  3. God of Earth, Taaken (appears as a Giant tree with millions of branches and more leaves than the eye can take in, the wood is all knarled and knotted, there are thousands of animals running around the branches and burrowing under the roots.
  4. Goddess of Air, Thista (appears as a Owl with eyes on the back of her head and with a horde of birds and flies and other flying creatures to tell all that is going on)
