The Constitutional Monarchy of Gurenn is a small nation. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 18 million enjoy great individual freedoms in everything except elections, which, where they exist at all, are populist shams for a dictatorship government that has no intention of ever giving up power.
There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, corrupt, liberal, pro-business individuals devotes most of its attentions to Commerce, with areas such as Religion & Spirituality and Defence receiving almost no funds by comparison. Income tax is unheard of. A robust private sector is led by the Door-to-door Insurance Sales, Information Technology, and Beef-Based Agriculture industries.
Crime is a major problem, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Gurenn's national animal is the Gurennese dragon, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the yami.

Government and politics
Gurenn is a constitutional monarchy with the power of the Emperor only being limited by the constitution. The current Emperor, Giovanni Nnelg, is a benevolent dictator. There is a Diet, whose task is to make proposals about issues. They were all chosen by the Emperor. The Emperor has the final word about all decisions. There are hardly any elections and political freedoms are rare. But civil rights in Gurenn are superb.
Foreign relations and military
Gurenn is a member of the United Nations since 1956. As the founder of Ania, Gurenn maintains close economic relations with Deffice, Demontropius and Luxias. However, no money is put in defence. Gurenn contains an army of samurai, battling without firearms because those are regarded as dishonorable. A large amount of those samurai are dhampirs, created by interbreeding between Men and vampires. There are several Gurennese dragons trained for battle. They only succumb to the will of the Emperor and as such prove to be powerful battle powers.
Administrative divisions
Gurenn consists of eight prefectures. Because no money is put into administration, the Emperor and Diet rule over the prefectures all by themselves.
A list of the prefectures:
