Egypria is an odd country. Its population dates back to the time of Ancient Egypt, when during the rule of Qakare Ibi, a ruler of the 8th Dynasty of Egypt, several Egyptians fleed westward into the Libyan desert during a period of civil unrest in the country. The refugees ended up at the Oasis of Augila, where they set up a large city that eventually became the nation's capital.

The origins of the name "Egypria" come from the fact that the population refers to itself as "Egyptian Libyans", although current scholars disagree as to whether or not there is anything distinctly "Libyan" about the Egyprians other than the fact that they're technically in Libya. In fact, aside from the existence of a pyramid in Augila, there's also very little "Egyptian" about the Egyprians as well. Regardless, the Egyprians today have formed their own distinct culture with their own language, religion and traditions, although outside influences have crept into the Egyprian populous.

Officially, Egypria is a Republic of Rome in Earth II, and in the NS Universe, Egypria is a close ally of Rome, though not a part of the Roman Empire. It has always had a distinct relationship with Rome. The Roman relationship began in 96 BC, when Cyrenaica passed to Roman hands on the death of Ptolemy Apion. Eventually, the Romans and Egyprians increased their ties with one another, leading to the peaceful union of Rome and Egypria in 596. Since then the Romans have built up the country extensively, building several Superhighways into the region, although Augila still does not have a Highway.

Several famous Egyprians have emerged, including the playwright Plakar Vaney, singer Ramania and political pundit Jaspsy Mandar. The current Roman Emperor, Rodin Hartian is also part Egyprian.
