Overview
The Republic of Krebylflivyx is a very large, safe nation, renowned for its devotion to social welfare. Its compassionate population of 117 million enjoy extensive civil rights and enjoy a level of social equality free from the usual accompanying government corruption.
It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Social Equality, Healthcare, and Education. The average income tax rate is 58%, and even higher for the wealthy. An almost nonexistent private sector is dominated by the Information Technology industry.
All-natural foods are becoming a major fad, TV shows must meet strict ethnicity quotas, cars are banned from built-up areas, and people are now classified as male, female, or genderqueer. Crime is totally unknown. Krebylflivyx's national animal is the gobble terky, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the cruise token.
Government
The government of Krebylflivyx has three parts:
- The Executive branch is headed by five Citizens General who are elected by instant-runoff vote every six months. CGs serve for one year, so elections alternate between electing two of the CGs and electing three. Any citizen may run for CG as long as they have the nominations of at least 20 other citizens.
- The Legislative branch has only one body (called Parliament), which is based on population with a direct representation of citizens. Members of Parliament are called Elected Society Members (or ESMs) and are elected by the constituents of each one's respective county by instant-runoff vote every four months. There are 500 ESMs, representing all 13 Provinces.
- The Judicial branch consists of the People's Court of Krebylflivyx, which is presided over by nine judges (called Volunteer Justices) who are appointed at random once a year from a pool of registered voulnteers. VJs serve for two years and appointments are held once a year, so they alternate between four and five each time.
National Animal
The gobble terky appears as a mascot on most national sports team jerseys, and it also appears on most postage stamps. There are steep fines for harming, moving, or even touching a wild gobble terky without the express concent of the Krebylflivyx government's Bureau of Gobble Terky Affairs. Such fines may range from 100CT to as high as 1,000,000CT for killing one.
