Cervax, The Kingdom of
The Kingdom of Cervax is small but rapidly growing nation situated on the south east tip of the Region of Charis north island. The region is most noted for its large scale monitoring and citizens, a ban on free speech and a total news blanket preventing events from the nation being reported in the wider region. For this reason the exact details about the nation are few.
Government
The Kingdom of Cervax is governed over by ‘King’ Jacob Young II, and despite giving himself the title of King, he is in fact a corrupt dictator. Jacobs government, which exists for ceremonial and traditional reasons only, is small and almost as corrupt as he is.
Environment
The natural state of the nation is one of great beauty. It is situated on a peninsular giving it spectacular sea views as most of its boarders. Further inland the countryside used to consist of gentle rolling hills and lush woodland. Today however the countryside is systematically being demolished to make way for intensive industry and high-density housing. The woodlands, once how to a healthy population of Pygmy Leopards, are being destroyed by the ever expanding logging industry with little care for the struggling national animal.
Currency
Solid currency has been outlawed in Cervax. All transactions now take place using bank cards or food cards. In an effort to abolish hunger and equality amongst the nations working class, the ever deluded government introduced a system of food token cards for all its citizens. These cards, reminiscent of war time rationing, ensure that all citizens get a balanced and healthy diet every week, but offers little in the way of luxury food items. While this system has ensured that none of the population go without food and obesity is all but eradicated, it has lead to widespread discontent with the Government. In addition to the food cards, each person has a government run bank account for their meagre wage with which they can purchase luxury food items and other everyday items not covered by the food cards. By forcing people to carry purchace everything using cards, it is easier to keep tabs on who is buying what. However, there is also trade on the black markets in any foreign currency people can get their hands on, and there is frequent item for item trading.
Industry
The primary national industry is the Soda Sales Industry, with Agriculture and Cheese also playing a big part in the nations thriving economy. Companies are entitled to extensive government grants and subsidies for keeping close tabs on their employees and supporting the government machine in whatever endeavour of public suppression it is currently undertaking. While those at the top of corporations can afford to enjoy the good life on their government throwbacks, it leaves the working class to depend almost entirely on government support to survive. Along side the so called private industries is the government owned and run company, The Firm, which was set up to employ those deemed unworthy of employment in private companies in order to keep them in line.
Law and Order
The ACM Institute (Advanced Citizen Monitoring): It was decided by King Young that the populace would benefit from in depth, round the clock privacy invasion. The ACM Institute utilises an extensive network of high-resolution CCTV cameras, bugged buildings, phone tapping, Internet monitoring, identity swipe cards, government run bank accounts and many other surveillance methods to suppress the population. Through these methods, even the slightest word said against the government can be punished and criminals caught and prosecuted with unnerving swiftness.
The Police: The Cervax Police force is a compact, highly funded organisation equipped with the latest and best equipment and vehicles. Thanks to the ACM system the Police force is incredibly efficient and prides itself on swift and decisive action designed to further deter would be criminals and out spoken individuals.
Military
The Cervax Armed Forces consist of the Army and Special Forces, Navy and Airforce. The Army, with its Special Forces division, is a compact and highly trained fighting force. Troops are armed with ruthlessly efficient rather then highly advanced weaponry, supported by several mechanised divisions. The Airforce is a small operation with only a few tens of planes and almost as many troop transport helicopters. The Navy is the pride of the Nation, consisting of two aircraft carriers and a variety of other vessels. Exact numbers for the armed forces is a closely guarded secret, hence information in this section may well be unreliable and inaccurate.
Religion
The Church of Cervax is the only recognised religion, all others are outlawed and seen as unpatriotic. While many choose to follow a variety of other religions, those caught doing so are punished under standard public order legislation and may well end up working for The Firm.
