Malinns is the most important town in the lightly populated Brodribb Region. It is situated on a tributary of the Brodribb River and was first settled by foresters and pastoralists in the mid nineteenth century.
The pastoral industry was closed down in the aftermath of the 1941 Liberation and the subsequent move to vegetarianism in Errinundera. Unsurprisingly, Malinns was the last town to proclaim itself vegetarian. That day, 6 February 1958, has been declared V-day throughout Errinundera and is celebrated as a national holiday. Similarly the forestry industry was phased out after the Liberation.

The trans-national railway passes through Malinns before beginning the long ascent to the Errinundera Plateau and the northern plains. Visitor from nations to the south of Errinundera traditionally waited here while special locomotives were attached for the climb.
Today, Maleys see themselves as set apart from other Errinundrians. Although there are occasional rumblings about secession they know too well that their economy is not self-sustaining.
