The Democratic States of the Siberian Republic (DSSR) is a huge, socially progressive nation, notable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed population of 823 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often. The Siberian Republic's national animal is the siberian eagle owl, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the ruble.
History
The history of the Siberian Republic is an infamous one. For many centuries, it was under Bouleardian rule. During those ages (known now to many as the Desolate Times), the land was a desolate wasteland and the nation was known as Bouleardan. Civil wars were many and the use of toxic chemicals polluted the water supply.
During the last year of the Desolate Times, Vladimir Nikolaevna assasinated Nicholas Bouleard.
Government
It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Healthcare, Education, and Commerce. The average income tax rate is 70%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing industry, followed by Uranium Mining and Beef-Based Agriculture.
