Geography

The Empire of Shorak sits comfortably on the southern end of the Evil continent, although it lacks any sort of oceanic coastline. In fact, large bodies of water are fairly scarce, but the few that reside in the nation are well kept, despite the almost total lack of pollution laws. Past these waters, the nation hosts almost to the whole of its nonability a desert wasteland, which leads to a single large mountain that is ringed with a small growth of jungle. The climate is, of course, hot and dry, with a pleasant area of tropical mildness in the lake areas and forests. The nation lacks a rainy season like many desert lands have, but rains are fairly current to make up for this lacking.

Economy

Commerce in Shorak is diverse and thriving, with many different businesses nearly anyone can get into, both large and small. The deserts hold a large series of mining camps, which toil night and day into the rich resources and gems hidden under the harsh sands. The lake areas hold small scale fishing and shipping operations, while others in the more prosperous regions are reserved for recreational ships and the manufacturing of their boats. Construction of buildings and machinery is also a high-profit venture, with industries upgrading their equipment and facilities on a regular, unfailing basis. Also, due to population growth spurts, large-scale housing has also grown, contributing to the populational bias of living to cities, while leaving suburban and rural areas growing ever more desolant.

Munition and weapon industries are also highly profitable, and the nation exports billions of dollars of advanced weaponry each year, and Shorak leads the region in offensive advancements, especially those of an international scale. Vehicular industries are also a large earner, with more than 95% of the population's households having their own car to drive. While the preparation of the nation's food is renown, agriculture is very poor, and is overall the worst aspect of the economy, since the nation must import most of its products.

Past these mainstream ventures is a hive of smaller, lesser known businesses which work their way into the public market place or internet stores, while others cater specifically to particular areas. Examples of the latter include the water suppliers who visit the desert mining societies, where a cool drink is hard to come by between blastings. Security systems for the city slum areas are another, and adult markets are almost unusually great sellers.

Government

A single Emperor rules over Shorak with full possible force, and although he has a full set of advisors to summarize the workings of the Shorakian nation, there is no other voice to the affairs of the Empire. Even military matters are controlled sparingly by well-experienced generals, while the Emperor holds full sway over the large and well-armed legions of troops. However, the ruler holds the favor of the people to his side with an encouraged listening upon their concerns, and overall, their questions are answered and their lives protected, although needed sacrifices elsewhere are softspoken due to maintained patriotism campaigns.

The Emperor, once appointed, gains office for life, although it isn't uncommon to see unpopular ones killed because of such reasons, leading to the fact of why many Emperors are mostly prosperous in their dealings, for fear of their lives otherwise. His advisors are hand-picked, along with military leaders and any other positions that impact largely on a governmental scale.

Crime is nonexistent on a common and legal scale, due to the well-funded police and military force and advanced equipment, but it's not uncommon to find large, shady organizations running about that stand just on the edge of crossing into illegal territories, and bribery is not a rare charge for suspected officers. Welfare is almost a wholly private industry, with the government only rarely providing some minimal support for high-ranking officials or national heros, the latter persons being mainly for morale issues.

Taxes are fairly light on most, but the rich start to suffer once they get past the first few months of their newfound prosperity. The market sits in the middle of the two extremes, but its gains easily make up for it most of the time. Public transportation is almost nonexistent, with only a few sets of rail systems connecting metropolises. Buses are a luxary, since many cities are often plagued with traffic congestions which make standard travels this way massively unreliable.

Culture

Because of its ease of industrial entrance, Shorak is a haven for people of almost any nation, which only adds to the market with increasing translator advances. The population is mainly centered in the slum sections of cities, where crowded tenants make their way to the business and indulstrial sections nearby for their everyday jobs. Suburbs and rural areas are almost nonexistent, with the smallest of communities occupied only by desert religious radicals or the rich, who make their homes on the immediately outter sides of cities or near small lakes.

Most cities are walled in due to past defensive measures of a now-dead Emperor, drastically seperating them from the desert regions where few reside in. The market is mainly aimed at the poorer slum residents, and its very easy to live if one can make it up to a middle class status. Entertainment is a highly regarded industry, in any sort of light, although the film industry is slowly declining.

While religious affiliations are split between athiestic and Christian, it is hardly voiced, and issues regarding the subject is nonexistent. Because of advanced schooling and immigrant influences, the population holds a gifted intelligence rate and most know a second language. Science is a well-funded and universally respected field, and the nation is slowly leading into massive gene manipulations, implants, and space technology, most of which are being aimed towards a military usage.

Foreign and Regional Policy

Shorak is heavily supplied with soldiers and weaponry which represents its war-like nature. Half of Shorak is made of older conquests, and it holds bits of territories and government influence in a variety of foreign powers it has had conflicts with. It is quick to stamp out threats, and is eager to demonstrate its fighting ability against those who wish to challenge it. Political conflicts are short and resolved with a quick agreement or a military strike, and Emperors are notoriously short tempered against annoyances to their power.

Trade is encouraged, although the government is quick to reject those who ask for too much, but are also eager to maintain favor with nations providing agricultural supplies its deserts cannot make itself. Imports are low in number past food, while exporting is almost imperitively necessary to prevent market flooding.

The Empire of Shorak's biggest territory is a set of borderlands not very far off, where, due to communication and population concerns, is ruled by a lesser Emperess (At this time), who at this time holds a much more extreme and maniacle hold over her submissive subjects.
