The Planet Jurai itself, the capital world of the Galactic Empire of the Planet Jurai, is mostly inhabited by a race known as Juraians, although the Jurai Empire itself is inhabited by hundreds different races. The Planet Jurai itself is also a home for an unqiue life-form - Space Trees.

Because of the very special structure of Jurai Empire, it is virtually impossible to give any generalized data about Jurai Empire as a whole. Instead, most information presented here applies only to the capital world of Jurai Empire – the Planet Jurai.

While the Jurai Emprie historyically expendaded their borders, they always maintained a strict policy of non-intervension into afferairs of planets that didn’t enter the Space Age. In result, up to this day, many planets that are technically part of Jurai Empire actually don’t even know of Empire they are the subjects of. When such a planet within Jurai's borders enters the Space Age, they are usually either approached by Juraians or encounter Juraian spaceships or space stations on their own. In either case, the planetar government is explained their position as subjects of Jurai Empire. Jurai Empire accepts no refusals at this point, and any attemps of such result in effective demonstration of the power of Jurai military (usually harmless, with use of asteroids for “traget practice”). Considering that average Juraian Battleships superior to the best most other galactic empires have to offer, very few see any point in continuing attempts of refusing. The few wars that have been fough over continuing refusals quickly ended in Juraian favour; while Juraians caused few civilian deaths, they are known for eliminating the entire space fleets during the course of these wars.

Even once the planet formally joins Jurai Empire, Juraians allow the planet to keep a great deal of independence, although the planetar rulers are sworn into service of Supreme Emperor (or Empress) of Jurai Empire and must obey his or her orders without question.

In regards of Jurai's political regime, Jurai is very much like a Constitutional Monarchy, and while Jurai has a Supreme Emperor (Empress), all the laws must be approved by the Holy Council of the Planet Jurai. Still the Supreme Emperor (Empress) remains a major power, and the cases when a Supreme Emperor (Empress) was able to enforce their will upon the Holy Council are known (the most recent of such was the brief period of Kagato’s tyranny). In either case, all the nobility, military leaders and planetary governments within Jurai Empire must swear allegiance to the Supreme Emperor, and it is clear that Juraians view it as something far greater then a simple formality.

Traditionally, the title of Supreme Emperor (Empress) passes to the eldest child in Jurai Royal Family (term “Royal Family” dates to the long-gone times when Jurai was a Monarchy). However, the rumors have it, that to assume the title of Supreme Emperor, the heir must demonstrate his or her Jurai Power to the Holy Council as a proof that he or she is truly of the royal blood. Since Juraians deny other any information about the legendary Jurai Power, nothing more can be said on this subject (you can view the traditional titles of Juraian Royalty in the bottom of the page).

Unlike the Supreme Emperor (Empress) The members of the Holy Council are actually elected into their offices, though traditionally, the all the candidates must bear some title or another. However, in case of Jurai Empire, this is not much of a restriction, since Jurai Emperor (only Jurai Emperor or Empress has power to award noble titles) historically have been very generous in awarding noble titles for various services to Jurai Empire, form combat heroism to scientific achievements and various civil services. And in addition to awarded noble titles, Jurai has a large number of noble families, where the noble titles pass to descendants. Therefore, there is never a shortage for candidates into the Holy Council.

Though Juraians are believed to be religious people, surprisingly little is known about Juraian religion, effectively, only the name of their Goddess – Tsunami. Juraians themselves sometimes make references to their Goddess, but rarely talk about her when asked. There are rumors that Tsunami is actually a Space Tree and the most powerful of Juraian spaceships, but these rumors remain unproved.

The Traditional Titles of Juraian Royalty

Traditionally, the ruler of Jurai Empire is titled Supreme Emperor (male) or Supreme Empress (female). The ruling Emperor is referred to as “His Imperial Majesty”, while the ruling Empress is referred to as “Her Imperial Majesty”.

The wife (wives) of the ruling Emperor is titled Queen, while the husband(s) of the ruling Empress is titled Prince-Consort. The Queen is referred to as “Her Majesty”, while Prince-Consort is referred to as “His Highness”. It is important to note, that despite being referred to quite a bit differently, both Queen and Prince-Consort wield equally little power, effectively, as much as the ruling Emperor or Empress grants them.

As Queens and Prince-Consorts sometimes have little or no royal blood in their veins (and thus, little or no Jurai Power, if it exists), they are traditionally forbidden from inheriting the throne. However, if the heir didn't reach the age of 800 (at this age a Juraian reaches adulthood) by the time the ruling Emperor or Empress departs (or otherwise prevented from continuing to rule), Queen or Prince-Consort is allowed to temporary (until the heir reaches adulthood) take the throne, taking the title of Queen-Regent or Prince-Regent. They are still referred to as “Her Majesty” or “His Highness”.

The children of the ruling Emperor or Empress and other younger members of the royal family are titled Princes (male) or Princesses (female). The Prince is referred to as “His Highness”, while the Princess is referred to as “Her Highness”.

The current heir to the throne of Jurai is titled Crown Prince (male) or Crown Princess (female). They are still referred to as “His Highness” or “Her Highness”.

It is important to note, that sometimes the member of Jurai Royalty can be officially referred to in a different way, for example, the previous Supreme Emperor Azusa Jurai was officially referred to as "His Terrifying Majesty" for his famous temper. Some members of Juraian Royalty are also known for gaining additional titles during the course of their lives, for example, the current Supreme Empress Ayeka Jurai bears the additional title of "Perfect Flower of Jurai".
