The Democratic Federation of Grosseschnauzer was established on 23 December 2004 within The North Pacific. It became the leader among five ethnic schnauzervolk nations located in three regions that are bound together under a Treaty of Mutuality, that governs the relationship of the five nations. Grosseschnauzer serves as the UN Member for these ethnic schnauzer nations. Two of the five nations were originally part of Grosseschnauzer at its formation, but were separated for reasons of regional politics and diplomacy when the Federation was forced to take political exile in January 2005 after the rise of the North Pacific Directorate (NPD) within The North Pacific. All five ethnic schnauzervolk nations are now within the International Democratic Union (IDU), except for a small portion of Grosseschnauzer that remains within The North Pacific as Neu Grosseschnauzer. A independent city state, the second of the five ethnic schnauzervolk nations, is also located within The North Pacific.

Within a month of its formation, Grosseschnauzer became the sponsor of record of the Tsunami Warning System resolution, (UN Resolution 90) which was developed with two other member nations of the IDU, after the original developer withdrew from activities within Nationstates. The Tsunami Warning System resolution was adopted by one of the largest margins in the history of the Nationstates United Nations. Grosseschnauzer remains active in the development of other proposals with other UN member nations. In March 2005, it was selected to join the UN Old Guard. In March, 2005, Grosseschnauzer was admitted to the Order of Gryphons.

Grosseschnauzer, through puppets in The North Pacific, was part of the North Pacific Confederation (NPC) that resisted the Pixiedance dictatorship. Within the NPC, Grosseschnauzer contributed its expertise to diplomatic negotiations as well as the development of both constitutional revisions for The North Pacific; the first was ratified in a referendum of those nations residing in those portions of The North Pacific under NPC control in early April of 2005; and the second in a region-wide referendum in early July 2005 following a constitutional convention. Grosseschnauzer was elected Minister of Justice in the NPC-controlled areas of The North Pacific in April 2005, which assumed responsibility throughout The North Pacific in the governmental vacuum following the fall of the Pixiedance regime. As part of the TNP transition to a unified democratic government, Grosseschnauzer (through its puppet in TNP, Neu Grosseschnauzer) then became the first Chief Justice of the Court of The North Pacific in July, 2005.
